2025 Red Sox Thread

Decent chance it’s going to be another Yankees-Sox series in the WC round.

Feels like this team can compete and win against anyone in baseball.

No they can't.

I am happy these games start at 6:08pm. Even if they are 4 hour marathons, done by 10ish.

Cautiously optimistic. That Red Sox blood still courses thru my veins, like a disease in remission. 2018, 2013, 2007 and 2004 kept it at bay, but ownership's tightwad ways have brought it back. I know what they are doing now is working, but I am still not trusting them to not take advantage of me "in my weakened state". I'm watching the games, but I am not giving them my money.

Same sentiment.

I missed Red Sox playoff baseball.

That makes 3 of us. My laundry loyalty has never faltered, I doubt my contempt for an ownership that's done nothing but reach for my wallet while it pissed on my head ever will either.

Sox in 3. Yankees starting pitching is ok but their pen is shaky and I can see them blowing at least 1.

Yankees are prolly their toughest series for one reason: no Anthony.
They say he's got a chance to play in the next series so that means Sawx could compete with anyone.
But getting past Yankees will be tough. We got Crochet but they got Fried and Rodon 1st 2 games. That's likely a split.
Game 3 in NYC roll the dice.
If Giolito can keep it close for 6 or 7 then advantage swings to Sawx- Whitlock and Chapman is the best 1-2 bullpen punch in mlb. Especially Aroldis.
If they just had one more dominant starter Boston is best team in mlb period.
I'll give rm credit for trying with Joe Ryan- they offered Minnesota a boatload of top prospects and young players but Twins
just wouldn't budge. Hopefully they can get someone in offseason.
For now, they have the pieces to win it all but no margin for error. They don't have the pitching or hitting depth of Seattle,LA or Philly. But all 3 of those have holes.
Philly and LA both have crappy bullpens.
But hey, we're in the playoffs. Something to watch in between Pats' games.

Yep, they've got the puncher's chance we hoped for.

Goddammit. They've pulled me back in...

Yeah, I'll be watching too. I kinda feel like anything could happen, but winning this series would feel pretty sweet. Agree with the others that the bullpen will be the difference...just need the starters to get us there with a lead.

Playing against the Yankees always ratchets it up of course, particularly because the Sox have dominated the rivalry for most of this century

Short series so of course so anything can happen, the Sox just have to hit

EDIT: I really hate the Yankees. It’s comforting in a way that some things never change

We can all be miserable together.

Truth for me this year is I don't have the emotional investment due to my distaste for the ownership. I have kept them at arms length for that very reason. I'll enjoy the games and watch, but I won't be "Red Sox Mad" as my wife used to call it, should they lose.

You pretty much summed it up for me as well.

Think they can take this series and then fall off into the night the rest of the way, and that’s not the worst consolation prize. We’ll see though. Playoff baseball is weird

Can NOT lose to these clowns, hang in there Crochet!

Can't say how many things I second guessed and how many times I held my breath but in the end it's Alex Cora's world, we're just living in it.

Yankees / Sox deliver. Tense game 1.
