Nice opening road win. I have a feeling everything will hinge on Sway this year.

Yep. Its all about Sway. If he has a **** year it'll be more of the same.

That’s about the size of it with this roster. Swayman plays like he’s paid and maybe they sneak in playoffs. The overdue tear down started with the trade deadline last season, this roster is part of it. Too bad it didn’t start before last year’s free agency. Some of those contracts are going to hurt for a few years but that was then this is now, GAME ON!

Today was the kind of game they need to play in order to remain at least competitive. Minten needs to be sent to Providence, however: he's useless as a top-9 C; and Kuraly's already entrenched on the 4th line with Eyssimont & Kastelic.

Not saying I believe in this year's team (yet), but a nice 3 game winning streak is encouraging.
Hmmm?

NGL my friend, I haven't been posting much about the B's 'cause the consistent hard core negativity about them here can get abit much. They had a hella 10-15 year run of staying mostly competitive now it's time to pay the piper. Woulda liked to see another couple of Cups out of that run but it is what it is and they held on just a bit too long

I hear you. Wins are great, even if there isn't any parade at the end of the season. It's hockey season, damn it! I wouldn't be a fan if I didn't give a **** about the B's, even at the risk of being labeled a homer (the horror), I will always look at the bright side and enjoy the Black and Gold.

I was a bit bummed that Swayman didn't get the shutout last night. He was on point, and it would've been nice to see. Next time!

Look forward to hearing your insights as the season unfolds. You have a much better understanding of the finer points of the game than I do.

Four straight W's. Let's Go! Keep creeping up in the standings boys.

Are my eyes deceiving me, or does Zadorov look like a steadier player this year? I am noticing him more this year for good reasons. Last year it seemed like he was mediocre/solid and then would make terrible plays. I know it's early in the season, but I'm really enjoying #91 when he is on the ice.

I thought so too, I mentioned it to @maust a while ago.

All things considered, he wasn't as bad even last season as sometimes perceived: He was the team leader in +/- and it wasn't even close, I mean, like, at all... The best of a bad lot perhaps and he's still over-paid; but he's a legit #4 as are Mac & Lindholm, there's no way with so much invested in the back half that they can't play a stingier, boring brand of hockey and by spreading the Forward talent around enough for 3 lines (including a couple of kids who've at least produced in the AHL) still find ways to win their share of 2-1/3-2 games...

Matej Blumel (Pasta's countryman) - Lindholm (after injury return) - Pasta

K-Nut - ZaZa - Geek

Jeannot - Mittelstadt - Arvidsson

Eyssimont - Kuraly - Kastelic

Next Men Up: Alex Steeves (CL), Merkulov, Lysell; Steeves in fact should've been recalled as soon as Lindholm was injured.

Zadorov - Jokesonyou

Lindholm - Peeke

Jordan Harris (after injury return) - McAvoy

Next Men Up: Michael Callahan (L), Victor Soderstrom (R)

Gotta give McAvoy some much deserved love for his epic OT shift that led to the B's winning goal vs Ottawa last night.
He was a man possessed, not one once but twice.
Flashbacks to Bobby Orr skating circles around his opponents.
I can't get enough of the 3 v 3 format, but only when the B's dominate possession.

Note: Geekie's 10th goal puts him one behind the NHL leaders
--------------------------------------------------------------------
OT: Like Geekie, Marchand is on quite a heater right now. 6 goals in last 5 games....and dominating the depleted Panthers' stat sheet

I'll repeat what I said then, which was a reflection of what I said last year. When he uses his size and stays out of the sin bin Zadorov is a good D-man. So far under this staff he's played more disciplined and been more mindful with the stuff that routinely gets him whistled, when you're that size with that reputation you get seen it's always been that way, not like he gets singled out.

Talk about foreshadowing. Pivotal moment in tonight's win over Toronto was Zadorov NOT dropping the gloves when Domi went at him. He let Domi drop his and start swinging but only restrained him while keeping the gloves on. Domi goes to the sin bin, B's score on the power play and put the game away. Leafs had scored 3 straight, momentum had swung completely their way leading up to that. The energy changed completely because Zadorov, last year's one man penalty machine, showed restraint and situational intelligence. Who'da thunk it?

Seven Straight. The way they are winning is very fun too. Love the hustle and willingness to battle for every puck.
Good times!

Love Pasta being a Marchand-esque facilitator rather than "shoot first", especially on the powerplay.
Owning Toronto not one but twice never gets old

Owning Montreal is just as sweet

16 wins out of the last 18 times these teams have faced each other during the regular season; I had forgotten how dominant the Bs have been against them...
