Patriots should not trade back. Hunter is a sure thing.
Depends on what you get, 2026 is a deep draft, add a number 1 there not drop too far this year maybe add another pick or 2.
You could also trade to 3 and still get Hunter in some scenarios.
I’m not trading without a number 1 in 2026 and not dropping past 5 or 6 but I’m at least considering a deal like that

Paying the price to move up from that far away is unlikely. You really only have the teams at #2 or #3 as teams likely to give you 'something' to stop another team. Given the prospects this year... it seems unlikely they're going to be incredibly motivated to give up the bag to prevent it.
A team at 4 would move up to get a QB.

Here's the thing, a team can't always wait for the QBs to be worth it. If the team has no QB and is faced with a bad free agent or a so-so rookie QB, they'll often choose the rookie. HCs and GMs lose their jobs if they don't win consistently. So if they're already on shaky ground, it's better for them to take the rookie QB and convince the owner to give them 2-3 years to train the rookie.

Another wrinkle is that the team wed trade back to will likely be bad and have another high draft pick (top 5) allowing us to move down again and secure more assets. Not definitive, but it makes things even more interesting.

The Raiders have two 3rd round picks that could become two 2nds from the Davante Adams trade.
We’ll take them, along with their first and a pick next year. Thx Raiders.

I’m thinking we should be cautious with Maye, after all, he admitted he got his bell rung.

It would also be a good time to see what Milton has.

Joe, you are getting the start.

Drake, you will be the emergency QB.

Jacoby, you need to be ready in case Joe has any issues or gets hurt.

That would be a productive use of the game, since it doesn’t affect playoff position and we really should see what Milton has.

That couldn’t be considered tanking could it?

The strength of sced. has the Giants @.553 and the Raiders @.541 which means thr Raiders go from#6 to #5 in the draft order. I have noticed that they have moved up in a lot of projestions for a Qb. They are hot for a qb,, so we have options.

Of course it would, but who cares. Nobody gets on the teams that rest starters to protect them from injury in a meaningless game before the playoffs.
Yet everyone gets their knickers in a bunch when you want to sit your best players in a game where losing helps your franchise.

Do you want Gonzalez back after a concussion if cleared, do you want Maye back after having his bell rung with a concussion earlier in the year? No, why risk going into the off season having to rehab injuries? Why not see what Wallace and Polk and Baker can do but not risk the franchise QB? It is important to give them reps for development.

Once on the field you play to win, not fair to the guys out there of course but don't know why people would have a problem not playing guys you need to be 100% available this off season.

Why would the team at #2 trade with the pats though? Is the team at #3 gonna give up enough to jump them?
If they really like a specific QB and are spooked another team will trade into the first spot and take him.

Serious question : how can the Vikings NOT keep Darnold at this point ? I mean, even if they franchise him to keep an eye for one more year.

-1- he’s still young
-2- seems to love Minny
-3- guys trust him
-4- winning

I know they have the pick. But sheesh. An unproven, injured player for a team that seems ready to win now ?

Depends on McCarthy, if he looks good or they believe in him you can’t sign Darnold to the contract some team will give him.
Also need to wonder what he looks like without Kevin O Connell and the receivers.
He can’t carry a team and pretty sure KOC believes JJ can be better.

Some coaches are so good the QB looks better than they are, ask Cousins.

35 TD for Sam Darnold

This league is so predictable everyone saw that coming,

Also starting to think the Vikings not Detroit are coming out of the NFC

Will add :

I very much enjoy watching coach Flores celebrating yet another big sack, while Tua cries about his feelings in Miami.

I don’t think there is any sure thing anymore after the busts we have had!!!! Can’t imagine him playing both WR and CB “full time” ….great athlete though

If NE has the first pick, I want them to start talking to QB needy (desperate) teams asap. And - as time passes - loser GMs will start falling in love with the passers and the bidding can start.

Telecasts are really pushing the immaturity levels. When referencing the Vikings’ close games this season they choose “KOC’s Calls”. Yesterday, they added cool words around the placekicker’s name (Cameron ****er).

What’s next ? Who has questionable names next game ?
