In Mayo’s press conference after the game, he was asked about if they might make a change at starting QB next week. He didn’t shut it down or say “Jacoby is our guy” like prior weeks. Instead, he said “um - … I don’t know, maybe, we will get together as a staff and look at the film and re-evaluate and go from there”

To me… that means they have already decided the answer and he didn’t want to say it

Yeah I tend to agree. I mean Maye with a lack of 1st team reps all training camp, in practice and he STILL looked better.

I think they’ve had a date in mind all along, I always thought it would be week 5 or the Titans game if things were going better than expected.

Once the 49ers game is out of the way it could be any week.

They haven’t been giving Maye 30% of snaps to wait much longer than week 8/9.

Anyone ask him why he didn’t call a timeout at the end?

I do not understand all the Brissett hate. What is he supposed to do with this train wreck of an OL and no top tier WRs? He gets immediately mauled when he drops back on 90% of the plays. Is he good ..no. But Most of the passing game woes are due to the crap OL.
Starting Maye next week would be stupid. 95% chance he finishes before the half way mark with multiple concussions or a separated shoulder.

He will be the next Bryce Young if they start him now.

Don't like it as it sounds reactionary than well planned.

Putting in Maye should be well thought out and planned. Not rushed for PR after a ****ty performance. That's what bad organizations do.

Awful OL performance.

Not only did they get physically man handled but they also had a ton of mental lapses that led to pressure.

On top of the Jets defense timing their blitzes perfectly (film study probably gave them a read).

I agree. Brissett is not playing well but I made peace with that the moment they signed him. He is merely a placeholder until Maye is ready and I don't really care about results. However I still want to see competence from the team and coaching staff.

Putting in Maye now is just stupid. It was only 1 drive and yet took quite a few hits. He also had more bad throws than good so needs more time.

Thought the experience was good for Wallace. I saw a lot of good and a few bad plays for sure. I think he’s gonna be alright with more time and reps. People ripping into him on just his 3rd game is insane. For any rookie to take reps at left tackle is a rarity regardless of what round drafted.

Love some White. Can’t wait for Barmore to get back. Definitely a big part of tbe future on defense.

Uche made his presence known. Game ball.

Overalll the secondary had a pretty tough night.

Tackling was atrocious and probably the toughest thing to watch all around.

Refs kind of whiffed on some calls. Could of probably left that stiff arm slide by Stevenson and the long gain. Big momentum killer. Fine, it’s a penalty but one you see very seldomly called. Thought one of Wallaces holds was very tic tak bs too.

At any rate, this team was in disarray from the opening drive on. Not really much else to say. Sadly Brissett is only going to do so much. Tbh Maye keeps them competitive but after a lot of thought I think they are handling him right by sitting him. Work him in slowly like tonight. You really don’t need a scrambling QB masking the deficiencies of a offensive line that is missing two starters and just isn’t ready to protect your top 3 franchise pick. Now is not the time imo.

Reporter: “how did the coaches tell you Maye was coming into the game and how did you handle that?”

Brissett: “Uhh… They told me he was going in. I mean… was I supposed to argue? I’m not sure what you want me to say. They told me he was going in”

Reporter: “well I guess, before, Jerod said ‘I don’t know we are gonna look at it’, do you still feel like it’s your job, or…”

Brissett: “Of course, but I don’t make personnel decisions. My job is to go out there and get ready to play.”

Good answers by Jacoby. Reporter asking the questions was a dipshit

Starting Maye is a worse idea now than it was four hours ago.

Jacoby is everything we thought he would be, If anything, he is better than he was expected to be, but that hasn't mattered a bit because of the real problems: the o-line and the WR room, the former most particularly. The underlying problem is continued poor roster-building over the past several years, failures in which the common factor has been Eliot Wolf.
