Don't you think if they're getting paid top contracts, they should be making more of a difference? Owenu, Dugger and Rham are virtually invisible. Bill would've let them all walk.
Speculative. Besides, in the last 2-3 years Bill lost all credibility in making solid personnel decisions. Hew as all over the map.

In addition, i'd argue subpar coaching has an impact on their performance on the field.
Dugger was available with the transition tag, yet nobody wanted him. So what do the Pats do? They reward him with a contract more than what his tag was.
They locked in an asset who coming into 2024 was a borderline Pro Bowler and 28 years old.

I completely forgot Bill is still on Bob's payroll which is why I fear Mayo returns in 2025. Do we think Bob would pay a name guy to be HC in NE while still paying Bill?

How long is he paying Bill for?
Why go further down the rabbit hole ? with Mayo?…..I think Thunder screwed up majorly by hiring Mayo who had no HC experience and no real DC experience either….and his decision making and management style is horrible. So Krafty is going to have to spend money to make money here in this case ….if he keeps trotting out this clown show…people will eventually stop coming to the stadium. Pats merch is already down at the bottom of the league

Fun fact: Mayo will not be a good HC draw for FA's. Teams will prefer the alternatives.

Rhamondre is stealing money, Kyle is stealing money, Davon is stealing money, Jonathan Jones is stealing money. jail in Polk is stealing money. Javon Baker is in witness protection but still getting paid.
Demontry Jacob’s is committing grand larceny. I don’t think Demorio Douglas would pass a GED, I’m not sure about Wolf I feel like Kraft being cheap is holding him back.

Mayo has a full Enron crypto level scam going on im talking him and Covington are doing some Occans 11 Type heist to Kraft wallet.

We named Mayo HC without even winking at Harbaugh or Vrabel is inexcusable,
Bob if you have a crap about sniffing the playoffs in the next 5 years you would right this wrong and go after Ben Johnson or Kellen Moore with a Msck
Truck of money or you would at least bring in 2 of Vrabel, Flores, McDaniels.

Mayos hiring reminds me of a kid out college interviewed and got a district manager position some years back and never even had a paper route prior to that.
But he made nice in Israel.

It's the same mistake they made when they brought in Carrol after Parcells. The nice guy after the mean one. The difference Carrol was a great college HC with a resume.
Carrol’s resume, at the time, was of a DC who failed as a HC with the Jets. The college resume was his 3rd chance which, to his credit, he made the most of earning himself another attempt at NFL success.

You have got to love the fools here who question Kraft’s testicular fortitude. He had the courage to, belatedly, fire Belichick knowing a good portion of his fanbase still idolized the guy and would vilify him to his grave for it. And, though it was another lifetime ago, it seems, Kraft had the fortitude to hire Belichick when most of the NFL and media thought he was a damn fool to do so and gave up a 1st rounder for him to boot.

It’s so sad how bad Bill became at drafting after 2013. Pretty much 10 years of bad drafting. And I’ve been saying this for years, he personally killed the dynasty. It could’ve continued for several more years with good drafting. Brady might’ve stayed if Bill had drafted some good offensive weapons. Years and years of ignoring great WR & TE drafts. It was so frustrating watching it in real time. Watching him draft 5th & 6th round rated DBs in the 2nd round while other teams drafted good offensive players.

Granted, his drafts from 2009-2013 definitely helped the Pats win championships in Dynasty 2 (2014-2018). But the drafts afterwards, as well as this teams inability to cultivate offensive weapons. Seems to still be happening in the new regime.
There was an article on Belichick (I can’t find it anymore, sadly, but it was extremely insightful) that came out in the 2016/2017 timeframe. In it, it was explicitly noted that Belichick had reached the point in his career that he only wanted to “coach guys he liked” and that was a recent change that had overtaken his philosophy. Now that was never explicitly defined, but was generally given as guys who played the game in a way that he preferred. Regardless, the timing of this change in style really corresponds with the draft whiffs.

He had never blown a 1st round pick through 2013 - the worst were probably Meriweather and Maroney. From 2014 on, who was his best? Gonzalez in his last year here, a pretty high pick. Prior to that, the choices are Michel, Wynn, Brown, Mac, or Strange because Easley and Harry were complete busts. I don’t care how late you are drafting, you need much better than that. DMac, Hightower, Mankins, and Watson were all late 1st round picks, and while Watson was the weakest of that bunch, he’s been better than all the guys in the post-2013 group.

He actually had his worst season as a pro since his rookie season in 2023.

He's nowhere in Milloy's class, yet he's being paid among the best.

Below average roster, below average coach and below average results.

No surprise at all, this is a 3-5 year rebuild… that’s how that story goes…
It shouldn’t be a 3-5 year rebuild, not with a competent coaching staff and with $130m in cap space. Belichick won a SB in year 2 of the rebuild.

Free agency is more difficult now. Not many players make it to free agency.
You want to be sick? Look at Stevensons contract how in comparison to Barkleys.

All the 2024 resigns aside from Michael Onwenu was a mistake.

We need a RB who's home run threat like Robinson and Gibbs... Rham is Meh.

I agree. People should be screaming to fire Wolf well before Mayo. Wolf has been around for awhile. This was his big chance to be GM without Bill Belichick being the lord of the team and getting the biggest say. Aside from Maye, who frankly was the only pick to make at 3, he did next to nothing else.

They need a high end GM that will aggressively get talent and manage the roster.
Maybe part of the problem is that they didn't clean out the entire scouting department. Why is Matt Groh still here? He was part of Belichick's scouting department and contributed his recent dismal drafting record. And now he's head of college scouting. How'd the '24 draft turn out other than the Maye choice that wasn't really a choice?

Henry is still worth his salt. I’m not convinced Onwenu wasn’t a mistake either in terms of overall dollars, but I can only imagine how much worse this line would be without him.

Dugger really seems like the type of guy that a good coaching staff knows how to use and a bad one doesn’t, and it shows in his play. Like Van Noy and Collins careers with the Pats versus on losing teams. Put Dugger on KC and people will be complaining about how we gave up on good talent and the rich get richer. I might even put Onwenu in that category himself.

LOL. 2023-2 INTs, 1 FF, 107 tkls and 7 PDs was not his worst year.

If you want to nit-pick plays from the season go ahead but his body of work was very good.

Huh?
