The Bears would be stupid to trade Fields and pick Williams #1.
He's basically the same guy, but smaller, less durable (than even Fields has been) and with 0 experience, instead of 3 years.

That said, I want nothing to do with Fields if they trade him. Never.

If he’s hired, Williams is automatically off the table..That obviously leaves us with the options of Maye, Daniels or whoever NE has in mind.

That's okay, I'd much prefer Maye or Daniels...

And now that BB is gone, this new inexperienced, reactionary "brain trust" will certainly stick at #3 and draft a QB.

Do we not need a QB?

Please not Daniels unless we bring in an experienced QB coach that has worked with mobile QBs and can teach progressions

Taking a QB just because he's available at your draft slot doesn't necessarily work. Witness Mac Jones.
How badly were we out of the playoffs with that terrible pick's rookie year?

It’s hit or miss. You’ve gotta take a chance on very talented prospects unless you feel pretty confident they ain’t it.

QBs don’t just fall into your lap. Hitting on the right QB would be a major step in the right direction. A JAG QB or old veteran isn’t going to get us anywhere beyond wild card contention.

Pretty sure Mayo & whoever end up GM aren’t keen on drafting Jarrett Stidham’s and Bailey Zappe’s in the mid rounds and hoping it sticks. Not like their jobs are guaranteed for a particularly long time.

While I’ve been one of the most adamant supporters of taking a QB with a the 3rd overall pick, the only other player I wouldn’t be disappointed taking there would be WR Harrison Jr. It’s almost as if he can’t be a bust…

I agree but include Alt in that category. The QBs give me analysis paralysis.

If you have the chance to get Williams, take it. Swing for the fences. He has the kind of talent that allows you to paper over so many of the problems teams have when they have only a decent QB.

It doesn't mean he's going to pan out. But if he does, he gives you what KC has with Mahomes.

Reid's record at KC looks very much like Belichick's record here but without the Super Bowl wins. Yet. I don't know how long he's going to last at 66. Belichick was 66 five years ago when we parted with Brady.

If you have a chance at a huge talent, you better swing.

I understand your view, but me personally; I know Alt will probably be a very good player, but I’d be lying to myself if I said that I wouldn’t be underwhelmed if we took a LT with the third pick when there were QBs/WRs on the board.

I’d say draft Maye or Daniels, then see if we can target South Carolina WR Xavier Legette (6’3 227lbs with 4.29/4.3 speed - allegedly)

Not good. Stats say he's a panic and run guy and now you question if he's reading the defense.
Potentially; but what plays are being called for him in those specific situations?..

If watching the pass rush is the same as reading the defense, sure.
