No you are ignoring my point. The athletism including ability to run is supposed to be the cherry on top. When somebody talks about a QB and all they say is how fast or how strong an arm they have but say nothing about decision making, accuracy, poise - you know the stuff the QB needs to actually be a good QB - then it's a red flag for me.

Both our QBs are described as athletic and yet nothing mentioned about the basics the QB needs to succeed and that worries me.
It should absolutely worry you.

Actually LOVED the Tenn RB and was annoyed we took a guard instead. They must hate Mafi/Sow
I loved him too. Perfect Patriot we let slip through our fingers. They just don’t think Mafi is the answer. A bad pick at the time.
Just throws a beautiful go, post/corner, far-hash pass with unreal velocity and decent touch. Super delivery and release package that looks textbook at times for that specific QB. Placement is very inconsistent and thats being nice but he's a very aggressive QB (like Maye) And like Maye he's a very tough physical runner. Big boy that will get tough yards. He's a half field QB for the most part. Stick n shoot. Accuracy drops the more he moves. Locks on to targets and really doesn't gave good placement or accuracy at times but hes a gamer
I have to disagree with you just a bit. I believe the Tennessee offense relied too much on the dink and dunk. That’s not playing to Milton’s immense physical gifts. They didn’t push the ball downfield aggressively enough.

And after a shaky first half in 2023, Milton settled down and improved. Like you say he’s got a sweet release. It comes out pretty fast.

And he’s doing actual progression reads.

In three years his completion percentage has gone up from just over 50% to 64.7% last year.

I think the Milton comparison is with Anthony Richardson at Florida. Wasn’t he the fourth pick taken two years ago by the Dolts? Both big guys with strong arms (except Milton’s is Thanos strong) who both started 12 games in college.
Richardson had 176 completions out of 327 attempts (53.8%) with 17 touchdowns and 7 interceptions.

Milton had 229 completions out of 354 attempts (64.7%) with 20 touchdowns and 5 interceptions.
Why am I being crazy to think of Joe Milton as our long term answer at quarterback?

Stranger things have happened, and AVP and McAdoo are exactly who you want to have here with two QBs with great physical talent, who need QB finishing school.

That offense was more than friendly enough to Richardson. Besides strength and velocity he's got very limited arm talent.

With respect anyone that's watched these guys tape understands why this is kind of a lazy comp besides the obvious.

Milton has a stronger arm but doesn't have the touch or general accuracy Richardson has.

Richardson could throw wrs open. He was much better coming off his 1st read and moving of 1 2 & 3. Better reading a defense. Better athlete and runner.

And one was around 20 and the other 24. You expect inconsistencies from a 19-20 yo. Milton is struggling with basic stuff off his his 6th year lol.

There's very much a reason why Richardson was talked about as a potential #1 overall pick and Milton was late round pick.

I'm glad we have him but you're crazy if you think he's the long-term answer here. Let that dream die brother.

I see him making the practice squad.
I don’t see him making the active roster.

He can throw a ball a mile. That’s about it
He went to College and played football for 6 years.
Can throw the ball 80 yards but gets drafted in the 6th round.
There is a reason why.

Yeah but…unlike other positions, QB’s slide for no logical reason. If Maye has to miss some games at some point in his career, Joe could be our guy.

I watched some highlights, not low lights, and Milton was incredible. Of course in the highlights you don't see the missed throws or mistakes, but watching the highlights, wow.

Yes, I did say incredible. He was accurate with an very quick release. He was able to look off the safety and make a quick throw although he always looked right and threw left. In the highlights is was very accurate, hitting the WR in stride. He was also mobile in the pocket and a bit nifty in the open field, although not Jayden Daniels nifty but who is. He is also very tough and looking for a fight; he even ran over some CBs.

So why did he last so long in the draft? Because there must be a lot of low lights such as missed throws and missed reads.

AVP and McAdoo say “hold my beer”.

At least I hope that is what they are saying.

Let’s hope the right coaching can polish this diamond.

That's ok he'll have plenty of time to iron out the kinks here. We got a guy with loads of Potential in the Sixth Round.

I am sure when Brock Purdy was Drafted last overall 49ers Fans felt the same way. Newsflash we DON'T KNOW let's hope for the best.

Wouldn't it be kinda funny if Milton looks better than Maye in TC Stranger things have happened.

If Milton looks better than Maye, and Maye is playing great, that is a win-win.
I would be very happy if Milton is good enough to start an occasional game in 2025. A 6th for a reliable backup QB is a fine deal.

However, I'm not at all sure that he would be better than Zappe in this role. The coaches will see a lot in camps and the pre-season.

In camp it could happen, but overall reading a defense and going thru progressions I can’t see it.
Yep that will come will time bur he has an Unreal Arm.

Zappe = Camp Fodder.

Zappe is probably the odd man out. If those highlights are typical of Milton's day-to-day skill level, then he would be the best QB in camp, but, of course, they are not typical, and that is why they are highlights.

His habit of running through defensive backs will not lead to a long life expectancy in the NFL, but you have to admire his toughness and determination. Milton seems like the tough SOB that Mayo wants for the team; I like this approach.

I was all kinds of excited about Malik Cunningham last year and that didn't pan out therefore i can't bring myself to feel the same way about Joe Wlton even though I want to. Joe looks much more athletic and has better size and a better arm for an NFL qb.
