DRAFT DAY DISCUSSION 2024 Draft Day LIVE Discussion Thread Day 2

Looks like another year for yours truly and many of us to spend college football season keeping an eye out for good LT prospects on Saturday and watching the Pats QB get pummeled on Sunday due to lack of talent at that crucial position.

OH. S**T. I need to apologize to POLK.. I fubared and copied LEGETTE's WEAKNESSES..

I will kindly correct it and go eat my crow..

This is a multi-year rebuild. Let’s see what the personnel looks like a year from now. Maybe we add that guy in FA next year (should be a better crop to choose from).
I wouldn't mind seeing the Pats double up at WR. If we do that, then add OT & CB, we can start looking to next season.

Thornton has great speed, speed isn't everything.
Unfortunately I think the ship has sailed on this kid….every year we are saying “this has to be the year!”…time is running out!

This is what I don’t understand. When another team reaches on an offensive player by multiple rounds they’re “winning the draft.” When the Pats front office take a player 10 slots too early they need to be fired
With our lack of talent we shouldn't be drafting safe slow coaches or jakobi meyers in 2nd round. You need to swing and adonai mitchell was there for the taking. Or just go and get the Iowa cornerback.

Our talent level is sickening.. we just overreach and draft mid level talent all around . We need to hit this draft outta the park and the 2nd round pick is disappointing is stating it mildly.

Repeatedly taking average to poor players is making what should be a fast turnaround a multiyear rebuild... I'm so sick of hearing this.

There's no excuse for taking bad or average prospects too early or signing average free agents... none.
Yes, don’t settle for the good, go get players that force other team to game plan against. The Pats still have no special players on offense that teams have to account for.

I don't think Polk's average to poor, I think that's unfair, he was way too productive and has too much good tape to say that.

Average to good? Fine, that's about where I put him.

My issue is, the Patriots needed a 1. They did not get a 1 in FA, and did not get one one in the draft. And there were several available.

Agree ….Grab Piersall!

The great ones usually are, if you’re ok with good, then . . .
AJ Brown ran a 4.49, Kupp a 4.57, Navua a 4.62.

Polk wasn’t my choice. I would have drafted D or an OT or JPJ.

But it’s kind of ridiculous to start bashing rookies before they begin.

Jennings was bashed here when picked, iirc. Now everyone was glad he resigned.

trading up for Worthy would of been ideal.

There’s debating and then there’s declaring the kid a bust immediately. Most detractors here are doing more of the latter than the former.
I'm betting on Wolf and Highsmith. I know we're used to misery, but those guys are typically right more often than not and after seeing him at various points Live last season, along with re-watching some of that footage, he's a solid pick.

First time I've felt like that in a while. I was nice back when I wrote about Thornton, but I was nervous. I don't feel that way about this one.

He was the second best WR on his own college team.

If Polk turns into a "good" starter and Patrick Paul does as well... the Dolphins win.

Not only is there a bigger premium on left tackles, but he was taken 18 picks later.

The Pats needed a left tackle, Okorafor sucks...

The Maye pick was a no brainer, I'm concerned about what they do going forward.
All im saying is let this draft happen and let’s see what guys looks like once they put on the pads. A lot of instant reactions going on when we’re midway through r2.

We had 3 glaring needs by consensus. QB WR OT. Two have been picked. 10 picks away with a few OT prospects still on the board.

It seems like the only thing people look at anymore is a guy’s 40 time but the acceptable time gets lower every year. I’m not sure why 4.5 would be considered “slow”.

trading up for Worthy would of been ideal.
Or standing pat and drafting Adonai Mitchell..or trading down and taking him at 37. Or trading up for any of the other guys in the back half of the first round.

Point is, they did none of that.

Damn, Javon Bullard, best SAFETY in the draft, is gone

Green Bay has taken a lot of good players who are going to play positions which are not really heralded.

Morgan at guard, Bullard at safety, Cooper at LB. They grabbed McKinney at safety.

This is the most unglamorous draft in the league, but all 4 of those players could easily be Pro Bowlers.

The CORRECTED Weaknesses as listed by Brugler:

Some people just want sunshine and rainbows all the time.

The reality is, the Patriots have a **** ton of holes on offense and the 10th WR off the board isn't gonna cut it.

It's ok to say that that move is probably not moving the needle because it probably isn't.
