Jordan Poyer in 'tier 2' is hysterical. Also, Tyrann Matthieu hasn't belonged on this list in 2 seasons.

In general, S’s aren't as good or have the impact they used to. But Antoine Winfield in tier 1? Yikes.

At least Jamaal Adams isn’t overrated like he’s been since he entered the league.

Both Bills S’s are overrated being league journeyman (Poyer) and a special teams guy (Hyde) before finding a home protected by McDermott’s scheme.

Dugger is too low. Tier 2 at least.

Adrian Phillips in tier 5 huh?

Why do analysts keep pushing the gadget S Mathieu? Way too high.

The Bills have 2 Safeties on the wrong side of 30.

Hyde will be 33 this season and Poyer just turned 32.
You took the words out my mouth.. hyde was out last season and is mulling retirement.. poyer is good not great. He gets trucked by running backs.

Dugger IDC what the rankings say.. should be in tier 1. Guy does it all at the position

Absolutely agree!!!!!! Hyde/poyer are a bit overrated.. neither are good against the run. Phillips in IMO is underrated and belongs in tier 2, Dugger Absolutely belongs in tier 1.. not many Safetys today do everything Dugger does. He handles alot of responsibility.

Dugger belongs in tier 2. Winfield is overrated to be in tier 1. And Whitehead certainly isn't in the bottom tier from what I saw of him while watching Brady in Tampa. Philips too of course.

Based on all Dugger does.. he's still a playmaker.. those other guys are pretty much deep field safeties.. Dugger does it all. He should be in tier 1..

Winfield is as stiff as a board and is terrible in coverage. In fact, their entire secondary is awful and TB will quickly regret the money they gave Dean. Yikes!

Where is Peppers? The guy hits like a bulldozer. Of course, silly me, safeties are not supposed to tackle.

PFF for you. Dugger isn't even in the top 20. Some of these S rankings will make you shake your head. The other positional rankings are a doozy as well. These names ranked are not like years past that's for sure.

Me personally.. IDC what PFF says.. we have the best all purpose safety group in the NFL. Our guys play up at the line, off the line, deep half, cover TEs. Cover backs, do blitzes.. Peppers, Dugger and Philips do it all.

When has Micah Hyde mentioned retirement?

Hyde is 32 and was not offered an extension in 2023. Why? Because he is half washed and the Bills want to go year to year as Hyde falls off the cliff. Hyde has no leverage as no other team wants him.

Poyer was 1st team All-Pro a season ago.

Poyer is 32 and was a FA in 2022. He signed for 1 year at $6.25M guaranteed which is peanuts. The 2nd year is not guaranteed. Why did an All-Pro sign for peanuts? Because the other 31 teams didn't offer him anything. Why didn't the other teams want Poyer? Because he is half washed and will be out of the league next year or the year after. Don't believe me, believe the Bills management who only offered a 1 year guaranteed contract.

Both Poyer and Hyde have had great careers but their days are winding down. Next year is probably the last for both as their talent continues to slip.
