2023 Mock Drafts

Did a pre-game mock on PFN earlier today after they updated things from Friday... No help at all for next year, which is what happens when you don't trade down from either 14 or 46 and make just a small one from 76 to 78:

  • 14. Devon Witherspoon CB Illinois

  • 46. Darnell Washington TE Georgia

  • 78. Jaelyn Duncan LT Maryland

  • 107. Jonathan Mingo WR Mississippi

  • 117. Isaiah McGuire DE Missouri

  • 140. Cory Trice Jr. DB Purdue

  • 149. DeMarvion Overshown LB Texas

  • 170. Juice Scruggs C/G Penn State

  • 190. Ronnie Bell WR Michigan

  • 201. YaYa Diaby DE Louisville

  • 210. Chamarri Conner DB Virginia Tech

  • 222. Evan Hull 3DB Northwestern

  • 229. Earl Bostick Jr. LT Kansas

  • 232. Jerrod Clark NT Coastal Carolina

  • 2024 ATL 7th (2024 LV 6th traded)

Still managed to finish with 14 picks: 3 OLmen, 2 WRs, 1 RB, 1TE, 3 DBs, 3 ED/LBs, and one Beef Curtain from Dorchestah MA... Zero Special olympics Teamers as well.
I like everything about your draft except for TE at 46, although I like Darnell Washington a lot. Gotta go OT at 14 or 46. It's questionable that Jaelyn Duncan will still be available 78. The Ravens, Chiefs, Saints, Bengals and Titans have all had him in for visits.

If Paris Johnson (OSU) or Broderick Jones (GA) are on the board at 14, the Patriots should draft one of them at OT.

I like it alot:

CB1? check - would be shocked in a good way for once on draft day
2024 TE1? lets hope so - not too many catches but what an athlete and you know he can block at least
2024 LT1? lets hope so - I know @State likes him, so that counts for something with me
Mingo? check - if he's gone I'd be thinking about Michael Wilson here
Fast rangy linebacker? check
Potential successor to Andrews at center? check
Evan Hull? check (wouldn't be an @captain stone mock without him)
Beef curtain from Dorchester? Check (wouldn't be an @captain stone mock without him)

Yeah I suspect that when the real pick 46 is waiting a week from tomorrow, I wouldn't blame Bill if he decided to grab one of Duncan, Bergeron or Freeland right there while the grabbin's good...

Yeah I like Wilson in the 4th round also; he could be a Jakobi Meyers-type of security blanket for Mac, with a little more juice, especially as his injuries continue to be farther in the rear-view mirror...

  • The One Week from Tonight Mock, from PFN... Only one small trade-down from 14 and nothing from 46 or 76, so no help at all for next year, but it did give me #82 etc:

  • 19. Joey Porter Jr. CB Penn State

  • 46. Jack Campbell LB Iowa

  • 76. Sam LaPorta TE Iowa

  • 82. Matthew Bergeron OT Syracuse

  • 107. Jonathan Mingo WR Ole Miss

  • 117. Ricky Stromberg C/G Arkansas

  • 135. Isaiah McGuire DE Missouri

  • 153. Charlie Jones SLR Purdue

  • 175. Riley Moss CB Iowa

  • 192. Nick Herbig OLB Wisconsin

  • 219. Evan Hull 3DB Northwestern

  • 220. Chamarri Conner DB Virginia Tech

  • 245. Earl Bostick Jr. LT Kansas

  • 248. Jerrod Clark NT Coastal Carolina

  • 2024 NE 7th
  • 2024 TEN 6th

LVN might be the only non-LT/CB/WR I would even consider drafting at 14, though I would obviously prefer to take him after a slight trade-down first...
Enormous upside. Good character. Very young. That potential is almost like that #56 Belichick had for the Giants in the 1980s when he was DC.

Without the cocaine.

19. Joey Porter Jr. CB Penn State
And the circus comes to town. Great prospect at a position of desperate need—a lengthy outside CB who can press coverage bigger receivers.

If we draft him, poor BoneyT won’t get five yards past the LOS in TC.

And the antics of the Dad, a notorious Patriot hater, very well come into play. Joey PorterSr won’t be able to help himself knock the franchise.

76. Sam LaPorta TE Iowa

82. Matthew Bergeron OT Syracuse
  • 107. Jonathan Mingo WR Ole Miss

  • 117. Ricky Stromberg C/G Arkansas
Oh, give me some Ricky! So underrated and needed in NE. My face scrunches up in distaste like when I had to kiss my Novi, Michigan, first grade teacher on the last day of school, Mrs. Wedge, whenever I see that fraudster nfler trot his undersized arse out. James Ferentz.

I doubt Bergeron is available at 82. He can be coached up to be a very good tackle. And Mingo sounds like a happy drug. I can only imagine One Patriot Place couldn’t keep up with the LaPorta jerseys.

But these four would be super sweet. Best Patriots draft since Parcells was getting the groceries.

LVN is so raw I wonder if we draft him. BGC highlights how raw he is. I would prefer a player who contributes more at CB or OT.

Really like the first two picks & Mingo... Don't know if I would use 46 on Musgrave, however; if all of Zay Flowers, Dalton Kincaid & Darnell Washington are off the board, then I might consider using that pick on one of the LBs, or seeing if CB Emmanuel Forbes is still available...

All three were off the board in that mock, Jack Campbell was gone too, Forbes wasn't there either iirc.

one of the better mocks with a WR in Rnd 1 that ive done

If it was only this easy. I traded back TWICE in round one, still picked 19th and cleaned up. Traded picks are in bold italics.

19: Paris Johnson, OT, Ohio State
46: Darnell Washington, TE, Georgia
50: Josh Davis, WR, North Carolina
76: Tyrique Stevenson, CB, Miami
82: Isaiah Forskey, edge, ND
107: Henry To'oto'o. LB, Alabama
117: Jammie Robinson, S, Fla. State
135: Andrew Vorhees, IOL, USC
179: Jaren Hall, QB, BYU
184: Parker Washington, WR, Penn St.
187: Jalen Redmond, DL, Oklahoma
192: Chris Rodriguez JR., RB, Kentucky
210: Alex Austin, CB, Oregon
232: Adam Korsak, P, Rutgers
235: Jerrod Clark, DL, Coastal Carolina
242: Demarco Hellams, S, Alabama

245: Stetson Bennett, QB, Georgia

I forgot I took Hall at 179 when I took Bennett at 245, so I might get fired as a GM, but I think I cleaned up otherwise. Somebody has to stick, right? Throw enough chit against the wall...

Honestly, this is a dreamer's mock, about 90% or more of the players mentioned slide to those pick areas. Maybe Campbell makes it to 46. The rest is dreams.

You took Korsak too early. Coulda traded back to 232 and got him. ;)

by that point in the draft ive virtually run out of players im familiar with lol

Same, that's how I end up with Bennett last. Now I have 5 QBs coming to camp. That's way too much. Figure they maybe carry three if one looks special, and one on the the PS. Cut McFly or whatever his name is and keep the two I drafted I guess.
