2022 PTP Draft Board / Pats Draft Talk

Surprised he didn’t list any RB’s. I think that’s a sneaky need.
It's hard to find RBs based on workout numbers because the data is so incomplete, in large part because the entire group skipped the shuttle and 3 cone at the combine. All of the top 10 or so RBs either never did the 3 cone and shuttle or just didn't perform well in the 40/3cone/shuttle.

I haven't thought about RB's tbh. It could be a nice late round value pick. I think we can find some solid competition there esp if the late round class isn't that good at other positions.
I feel RB is last on our positions of needs. Damien Harris rushed for over 900 yards and 15 TDs. Rhamondre Stevenson is pushing for minutes and earning them with a promising 600 yards and 5 TD rookie debut. And we brought back James White as a pass catcher. It's about as well-rounded a RB room as you can find around the NFL.

The Pats actually left the Alabama Pro Day before even seeing him workout. Belichick could be interested in him or he could be doing Saban a favor by giving him an invite to Gillette.
Where did you read that at?

Damien Harris is on the last year of his deal and James Whites health is a big ?? For a team that wants to control the clock and pound the rock, gotta have that stable full.

I think Harris and Stevenson are going to be a little more well rounded this year at pass catching which might make the threesome even more prominent.

Belichick, Groh and Patricia did not watch the entire event, though. The Patriots’ contingent left early, and among others missed wide receiver Slade Bolden’s workout. As AL.com’s Mike Rodak suggested, an unfavorable weather forecast — severe storms are set to hit parts of the state later on Wednesday — might have led to the trio leaving early.

Also RB is a dime a dozen position in the NFL Draft nowadays. Unless there's really special talent it's barely a First Round position now.

Would be nice, especially if they can get to lining up wide every once in awhile. Bring some unpredictability back when they’re on the field.

Sign a couple of UDFAs then... Need for this year addressed.
Would love it if they could find a way to add some more picks. Have more opportunities to use the 7th rounder to snag some guys that would be priority UDFA’s you would have to compete for.

The obsession with this player needs to stop. If he was black no one would be talking about him on this board
Gotta be one of the most ignorant comments I've ever seen.. Not to mention borderline racist.

Bolden is a 7th round/Priority UDFA. Most of us realize that. Reporters mentioning stuff when he has a visit set up with the Pats is normal. It's their job. And it getting mentioned here is normal.

Wow. The pats met with a player. BIG NEWS FOLKS. slade bolden must be the next edleman and welker!!!

Those words are quite frankly insulting. This board talks about plenty of black prospects and in glowing terms as top targets for the Patriots. Skin color has nothing to do about it, it's what the player could do for the team. Are you insinuating that the Patriots drafted Mac Jones because he was white and that's the only reason why people posted about him? Ridiculous.
I think he was insinuating that Bolden is and average WR but when we all are craving a Jules/Welker guy that we may be overreacting to Bolden. I apologize if that is not what was meant.

I think Bolden is an average guy and feel that he would be a significant downgrade from Jakobi based on WR skills/ability. I do think that already established chemistry with Mac could make up for some of that though.

Huh? His comment was made from the perspective that Bolden was getting special attention for being white, and that if he were black, he wouldn't be talked about. That's not "borderline racist" in any direction.

Okay... think maybe you might be overreacting a teeny bit here?

Bolden's skin color is totally irrelevant.

He's getting (perhaps unwarranted) attention from Patriots fans because

1) He's a slot receiver/ST player and the Patriots are drawn to these kinds of players

2) He's from Alabama and we draft a lot of Bama boys

3) He's a close friend of Mac Jones and was a safety blanket of sorts to him on the field

Nobody is talking him up as anything other than a potential UDFA target and his skin color has had no bearing on any discussion about him. Until this guy decided to wade in with some ill conceived whataboutism.

There are a number of black slot receivers that have been talked about far more on here, and far more favourably. Like Wandale Robinson, Calvin Austin, Jaelen Tolbert, Bo Melton and my own Binky, Tré Turner

The Bolden attention isn't really any different than Malcolm Perry a couple years ago, just for different reasons. They weren't willing to draft Perry, but they jumped at the first opportunity to get him on the roster without having to use a pick (a year later via waivers). They're similar in size, bench, and 40, but Perry did better on the jumps while Bolden wins in the 10 and 20 splits, shuttle, and 3 cone. Seems like a relevant comparison since they'd be competing with each other this offseason if Bolden ends up with the Patriots.
