DRAFT 2022 PTP Draft Board / Pats Draft Talk

Surprised he didn’t list any RB’s. I think that’s a sneaky need.
I haven't thought about RB's tbh. It could be a nice late round value pick. I think we can find some solid competition there esp if the late round class isn't that good at other positions.

Joshua Paschal is my ultimate draft day dream right now in the 3rd or so. I'm late with a lot of my evaluations, but he's one of only a few edge players I've seen with legit two-gap ability. Plus he has surprising short area burst and agility and can get into the backfield (37 career tackles for loss, 3 blocked kicks). He's not as refined at pass rush as some of the others, but he's the best run defender I've watched on the edge so far this season.

I don't know how I didn't watch this guy earlier, but he sets a hard edge and plays with impressive urgency. Can rush from the interior as well. Huge fan. Him and Travis Jones would fix most of our run defense problems. I can't believe I'm so late to the party with him. Absolute monster! @BaconGrundleCandy you gotta talk me down from overreacting. I'm 100% sold here, buddy.

Short highlights for the attention-deficient among us.

I’m thinking we co DL or LB in the first if Jameson isn’t on the board

Seems ike every mock I'm doing gets me Woods in the 4th, Ariaza in the 5th (sorry, Captain Stone).
If we could get Ariaza in the 6th, I’d be all for it. Especially considering Bailey’s proven performance escalator.

Travis Jones is basically Jordan Davis @ better value. I’d be glad to have him. Also, wouldn’t mind Jelani Woods in the 4th/5th.
Is Jones an NT or DT? Looks like he’s 333 lbs. Does he have the frame to put more weight on if needed?

I believe he could add roughly 5-10 lbs ( if he needed to; which I don’t think he does) & remain as explosive. At least I’d hope so..He’s a “DT” but he seems like one of those rare guys that have the ability to occupy space/two gap, shed blocks & pressure the QB with proficiency. Definitely one of my 5 favorite prospects in the draft.

Imagine the beasts we discuss when there is chatter about going UP from 333 !

(I’d be unsurprised to see NE go with either an OL or DL. People want exciting picks, but BB has often gone ‘lines’.)

The obsession with this player needs to stop. If he was black no one would be talking about him on this board
The fact that the Pats had a chance to see him at the combine, at the Alabama Pro day, and are now bringing him in for a visit should tell you something. He’s not an all-world athlete that is going to transform the WR corps. He does have a rapport with the starting QB, no doubt has the seal of approval from Saban and Jones, and has some KR & PR experience. He’s a reach at rd 6-priority UDFA candidate. He has so many things working in his favor for getting a shot with this team that has people talking, none of which have anything to do with him being white. I’m sure the fact that he is white does make some folks fondly think about the Walkers and Edelmans of days gone by, but for the reasons listed above is what has most people talking about him.

Those words are quite frankly insulting. This board talks about plenty of black prospects and in glowing terms as top targets for the Patriots. Skin color has nothing to do about it, it's what the player could do for the team. Are you insinuating that the Patriots drafted Mac Jones because he was white and that's the only reason why people posted about him? Ridiculous.

The Pats actually left the Alabama Pro Day before even seeing him workout. Belichick could be interested in him or he could be doing Saban a favor by giving him an invite to Gillette.
