2022 PTP Draft Board / Pats Draft Talk

If Jordan Davis is still there at 19, I would think we would have to inquire about a trade up....otherwise I'm thinking it's Booth/McDuffie or trading back a few spaces.
agree, but i would put elam ahead of mcduffie for us esp. in man coverage

i disagree with lazar here

Karlaftis, Booth, and Hill are also on the board. I’d probably go with Karflaftis if this is how it played out, although I would be open for a trade down. I think we get more bang for the buck shoring up DE with an early pick than with a guard/center. Not that I dislike Johnson, just given the options that’s where I’d be heading. Given the reports of Dean’s football IQ, if BB is willing to go lighter at LB then I could the value in picking him too.

Judging by the patty-cake style football that was played in the Super Bowl, we might just get away with playing Dean. I was fairly shocked by the Pro Bowl-ish feel of the Super Bowl.

Yeah if those are the players taken with the first 20 picks, and I'm not allowed to trade down, then my choice would be either LT Bernhard Raimann, DE George Karlaftis or CB Andrew Booth (McDuffie was taken at 18 btw)...

If I had my way ...
RD1 starts at 5pm. Take an hour break and go right into RD2. Call it a day after that. RD3 & 4 next day. 5, 6 & 7 following day.

The NFL is never going to start anything at 5pm on a weeknight though, because they'll lose a ton of viewers outside of the East Coast.

I think they should start the draft at 13.00hrs EST so I could have my evening meal and enjoy the draft

Lol

Travis Jones was there, too. You like those three over him?

Is 6 drops on 176 targets good? That's 1 every 29.33 targets.

Nelson Agholor had 1 drop on his 64 targets.
Jakobi Meyers had 3 drops on 126 targets (1 per 42).
Hunter Renfroe had 2 drops on 128 targets (1 per 64)
Adam Thielen had 1 drop on 95 targets.

Sure, it's closer to Stefon Diggs who had 5 drops on 164 targets (1 per 32.8), Amari Cooper who had 3 drops on 104 targets (1 per 34.67) and Brandin Cooks who had 5 drops on 134 targets (1 per 26.8)

And it's better than Jaylen Waddle 8 drops (1/13), Justin Jefferson 7 drops (1/15.4) , and JaMarr Chase 11 drops(1/11.6). Cooper Kupp had 8 drops on 145 targets (1/18.125). Tyreek Hill had 7 on 159 targets (1/22.7) and Chris Godwin had 5 on 127 targets (25.4).

So I ask: What is "Good" when it comes to the number of drops a receiver has? And does it make them a :bad" receiver if they are dropping 1 out of every 12 or 1 out of every 15 or 1 out of every 30?

Drops are also such an arbitrary stat, and usually sits at such a low number, that any interpretation that swings it even one or two is going to radically change the "drop rate". I see too many people call something a drop when it's a contested catch (or at least a difficult one), and without seeing who is judging for these numbers it's hard for me to get worked about them.

They’re different players bruh…

They're both DTs in the same system...

So, yes, Davis might have won the 2022 NFL Combine with his unbelievable numbers, but Wyatt’s measurables, charisma, and preparation from his time in Athens have all ensured that he turned scouts’ heads in Indianapolis.

How do you pick Karlaftis over Johnson or Hall for example? My question is not directly related to the previous mock which you were addressing. So Johnson is 254 lbs., 6'4.5", 4.58 sec 40, and 27 reps, Karlaftis 266 lbs., 6'4", 4.61 sec 40, 21 reps, Hall 283 lbs., 6'6", 4.88 40, 25 reps. Hall is taller and heavier but slower. We can trade back into the top of the 2nd and get Hall plus another 2nd round pick, but Johnson is much quicker (which smaller players tend to be) but still very strong (27 reps is amazing). When I look at film Johnson is an outside guy, Hall looks like he can move around, inside or outside. So hard for me to know who will be good in the NFL. I want a stud DE like Johnson, but two players like Hall + another might be together better than one Johnson. Karlaftis is impressive, quick but not as strong, his tape is solid, not sure about him as some mocks have him very high and others very low in the 1st round, but he has been very productive.

Right, and if a team fields three wide receivers those are all different players with different skills playing different positions. For example Parker will be the split end, Borne will be the flanker, and Meyers will play in the slot. Split end and flanker are both "receiver" but they're quite different in requirement. Every positon on the defensive line is a different position with different requirements.

Consensus has like 28 players off the board in the first 20 picks, I don't know how that works but I disagree with it 150%.
Not unlike they're being at least 20 'top 5' players in the NBA.

So you can't move either of them around the defensive rotation...got it.
