Meyer was an abomination, and he didn't last long, and Mayock was wholly unqualified to manage an NFL franchise, but those are the exception. The old-school billionaire owner set is certainly prone to fits of foolishness, such as hiring media personalities like Gruden and effective college recruiters without adequate critical thinking, but there is a cadre of executives and coaches that came-up through organizations that sustained success through professional management and coaching, like the 49ers under Walsh, Patriots under Belichick, Packers under Holmgren, and Eagles/Chiefs under Reid, who know how to build and coach talented teams and install professional training and nutrition programs. There will always be winners and losers, and those with elite quarterbacks and other game changers will be on the winning side and the clown shows and otherwise unfortunate will be on the losing side, but in the bulk of the league, the any given Sunday mantra is a testament to the quality of the athletes, coaching, and team building these days.Quite an assertion. What's the evidence of improvement? As clowns go, Mayock and Meyer were as laughable as it's ever been in the NFL.
