Michael Silver reports teams "believe" any deal for Russell Wilson would "start" with three first-round picks.

"What's a realistic price if the Seahawks were to trade Russell Wilson?," Silver said in a spot on NFL Network. "I think you start with something like three first-round draft picks. That's kind of the message that other teams believe would be conveyed." That last sentence makes his "report" sound a lot more like conjecture than anything, but the fact remains that teams would have to legitimately shock Seattle with an unreasonable offer to even begin trade negotiations. There's still more than enough time for the two sides to consider all matters water under the bridge.

Chris Godwin said he wants to remain in Tampa but wants to "get paid too."

While a much sought-after free agent looking to maximize his earnings isn't exactly breaking news, Godwin's comments indicate he won't give the Bucs a hometown discount if the team wants to retain their star wideout. “An extension would be ideal," Godwin said Tuesday. "I want to be in Tampa, but I want to get paid, too.” Bucs head coach Bruce Arians has been clear that the team wants to bring back Godwin, who would remain a key part of the team's Tom Brady-led offense. It would be a major upset if Godwin ended up with a new team in 2021.

Any face to face meetings with Michael Silver should start with 3 punches to the face.

BEN ROETHLISBERGERQB, PITTSBURGH STEELERS

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports Steelers owner Art Rooney II is expected to announce Ben Roethlisberger's return for 2021 on Wednesday.

This firms up Tuesday words from Big Ben's agent. Roethlisberger's contract and $41.2 million 2021 cap hit need to be reworked, but it would appear neither side views that as much of an obstacle. Roethlisberger became a liability down the stretch of 2020 as his surgically-repaired throwing elbow appeared to die out, but he is the sort of player who has earned one more chance with his organization. The Steelers possess a readymade Super Bowl roster. Roethlisberger will be the weak link if he can't improve upon this winter's finish.

Rotational Player and Threatening Starter's Job
So if Jones goes to Miami in FA and Watson is traded to them it could be a bit a bit of a challenge in the AFC East........!!

The Pats were 3rd in the division last year, with or without those players it’s already a challenge.

The Pats could be the new owners of last place in the AFCE if the Jets get it right.

Sooner or later they will.

Exactly. I think a lot of people are overlooking just how many holes this team has to fill. I’m confident with loads of cap space and the draft Bill will be able to build a competitive roster. Will it be enough to get back on top of the division? That’s another discussion.

Cousin,
Good morning. Toasted apricot and berry bread with jam, orange juice and Coffee to start this day.

Your confidence is well noted but as Triumph says in a few posts down. 'We ain't going anywhere without a QB'. Even Mike Reise who is a big BB supporter/defender made note of the Hunter Henry comments that he is not apt to go to a Team without a decent QB. Wouldn't mind him on our side at TE.

These Draft picks are not sure things. Charlie Weis should understand that. Drumming for Mac Jones does not make him the next TB12. 17% Charlie........that is what you and your "professional" talent evaluators hit on.for success. The worse the Team, the more Draft picks they keep to turn over crappy rosters. Good Teams weiill keep less Draftees. This is why eventually good Teams wind up with older rosters and those Teams decline (see Patriots the last couple). But relying on that "build through the Draft" B.S. is not the only way. If you are an expert with a rifle, don't bring a pistol to a gun fight.

In a study that was done of Team Draft success, the Patriots were mid pack (thought it would be lower). At a league average of 17%, Draft success measured in a fair term of three years but there are two problems. One is "in a fair term of three years" How many Posters feel that BB will stick around for three more years as HC? The next problem is 17% success. That success is measured by Pro Bowl type player, Solid Starter, Valued Back-up or Special Teams specialist. The rest will be cut or traded or just leave the NFL. Some Teams just pick the wrong guys for their Teams.
That amounts to an average of 2 players (not roster fillers) that have added to your Teams yearly line up. In 2019 we were actually poopy, lost some solid players and we wound up keeping more picks to fill holes. In the nest two years we will see who sticks from 2020 but two will most likely be it. You might have blips of say three players but don't confiuse those fringe roster "keepers" who can be replaced every year.

O.K. after that sermon, I have warmed up to Mac Jones, but can he "Justin Herbert" us with a talent that allows him to guide us to play-off contention? or will he "Daniel Jones" us? There have been no rookie starters in the Super Bowl. It has been a rare site in the playoffs (see Butt Fumble Sanchez as exception).......or....will it be a fellow like Kurt Warner, a cast off whom was obtained and led the Cards to the Super Bowl? How about the Raiders picking up some guy named Jim Plunkett who won it all? Didn't Colts cast off Manning win and how about TB12? Foles anyone? Then for you nostalgia veteran NFL guys who remember Van Brocklin, Blanda, Earl Morrell, Y.A. Tittle who brought their Teams to championship games. Not a bunch of Rookies there.

My point is we need a Vet who maybe needs a change of scenery if BB wants his revenge tour. Perhaps a Alex Smith or a Kirk Cousins. Perhaps give up those three first rounders....why not, just look at our last three years, for a Russell Wilson. After seeing what's available maybe Mariota or even bring back Cam (blaspheme!!!!) ...o.k. then get a rookie under him as he might get hurt.

Once we get the QB start the rest of the puzzle. That is BBs forte. He can better 17% on his FA and Trade acumen....i.e rifle.

Thoughts?
