2017 NFL Combine Thread

Douglas looked smooth through this W drill. He also had an identical 40 to Richard Sherman. He can still be an excellent boundary corner. I believe in his instincts.

So the draft produced Byron Jones 2.0 if BB wants him.

That can't be a coincidence. Some big time program has to hire the UCONN trainers away.

I would be surprised if Melifonwu runs sub 4.5. He didn't look that fast to me on tape.

He looked a little lazy too me. I put him in the first for us in my latest mock because he's such a match up option but I still like Baker more as a first round safety.

Baker looks like a corner to me. I'd love to have him here to man the slot and also rotate in as the 3rd safety. TOO MANY GUYS I LIKE THIS DRAFT. Haha.

Apparently Notre Dame has done so already.

Delano Hill and Shaquill Griffin have looked good too.

Yeah, he looked pretty disinterested at times. I think he plays better in run support and covering short routes than as a deep safety.

I picked him because I could see the Pats use him like Brandon Browner as a match up guy. On the bigger WR when necessary or on a TE or even like a Kam Chancellor.

But, if Melifonwu runs in the 4.4s, he won't be there at 32 unless he does badly in the COD drills.

Yeah, Chancellor seems like the obvious physical comparison, or George Iloka. He seems to be more explosive than those two, but neither of those two were even near 4.5, both were closer to 4.7 than 4.6. So, if Melifonwu could run sub 4.5 like they speculated, that would be amazingly impressive.

Nate Gerry has been sneaky good in these drills. Shaq Griffin might have been the best along with Josh Jones.

Speaking of Browner:

Height: 6034
Weight: 221
40 Yrd Dash: 4.68
20 Yrd Dash: 2.77
10 Yrd Dash: 1.67
225 Lb. Bench Reps: 13
Vertical Jump: 36 1/2
Broad Jump: 10'03"
20 Yrd Shuttle: 4.24
3-Cone Drill: 7.20

So let's not get too caught up on 40 times. It's just human nature to prefer the better number, but we have to remember that we're looking for a football player.

Adoree Jackson has nailed the gauntlet both times. I'd want him on offense.

To be honest, almost every guy has done well in these drills.

Yeah, and there is another group as well. Crazy year for DBs.

Not just a great 40 time either. Looking really natural in the drills.

Hadn't even looked at him. Will now

I just went back and watched a few games. He allows some separation on lazy technique, but you can see a fast, physical player. Looks like the ideal developmental type. Reminds me a little bit of Darryl Roberts, although his coverage didn't look as refined. Still sad we let Roberts get away.
