2016 Patriots' Pre-Draft Contacts.

So I went back to review his gameplay, and I was really pleasantly surprised. Long, athletic, and pretty disciplined. He looks like he's still learning how to play linebacker, which makes sense given how much they moved him around. I saw him drop into coverage, pass rush, play the run, spy the QB, and make plays on special teams. He is going to be in all my mocks moving forward. Not sure who I'll remove for him, but he reminds me a bit of Jamie Collins coming out of the draft. I'm not sure he's as athletically gifted, but he's certainly talented enough for the NFL.

Some cutups if you aren't familiar with him at all:

he doesn't look nearly as explosive as collins. He looks slow.

Interesting name.

I definitely don't read too much into workouts but is there any chance we're OK going exclusively smaller and quicker at RB ? Lewis, White, Brown, let's say we drafted Ervin.

I know we were still interested in Blount, and I kind of assume he'll be back, but with him on the market so long he doesn't appear to be a priority. I'm not following the draft much this year due to Grand Theft Draft Pick but this group of 210 lbs and under is interesting.

Throw in two very athletic interior linemen and that would be an interesting offense.

6'3" and 230lbs. Makes me wonder whether Cajuste is on the radar too.

Watched some stuff about TE Stephen Anderson on YouTube. Seems like a really solid character guy who also seems really talented. His coaches rave about him. If he's around late I'd take a flyer on him, but with his measurables he seems like he might go higher than the 4th round. Too many needs to jump on a TE. Though we know BB doesn't draft for need, drafts who he thinks is best fit for his system.

This guy would be a fit, seems like a Patriot kinda guy.

Though the contacts list you get a sense of the positions the Pats are targeting.

And you get an idea of where they're targeting them. Judging by the list so far, I'd suggest a possible a DT amd OT in round 2 (maybe an OT with a trade back into the 3rd), a RB in round 3 (maybe a WR), a day 3 WR and a day 3 linebacker. Not sure there's a clear picture on CB yet.

I think that leaves Kenny Clark as about the only potential Rnd 2 DT we haven't met with.

I'd rather have Kavon Frazier on day three. Killebrew is a freakish athlete though. Also, I just have a little hunch about Keanu Neal being a surprise 2nd round pick for us. This supports that idea a little.

So it was him you made that comment about ?

From mike Reiss on Keenan Reynolds and Chris Swain. Reiss said on twitter rthat the Pats have met with Swain "multiple times".

When I heard how many resources the Patriots have invested in the scouting process with Navy quarterback/running back/receiver Keenan Reynolds, it reminded me a little bit of how the team approached the 2009 scouting of Kent State quarterback/receiver Julian Edelman, a good prospect who didn’t fit in the traditional box position-wise. Coach Bill Belichick met with Reynolds in February while in town to present an award in his father’s name at the Touchdown Club of Annapolis, then tight ends coach Brian Daboll came to town to install part of the offense with him to gauge his understanding, and assistant special-teams coach Ray Ventrone followed up after that. It was a similar approach with Edelman. That’s one reason I have Reynolds and Navy running back/fullback Chris Swain, who has been paired with Reynolds in the pre-draft process, circled on my later-round prospect list for New England. Reynolds recently tweaked his hamstring and has been limited in workouts, so I wouldn’t be surprised if the Patriots add another visit with him at some point.

Ex-Patriots assistant Brad Seely: New touchback rule could increase returns

Regarding drafting Reynolds…… Am I being too presumptuous to say it's not a question of "if" New England will draft this future slot WR but "when" New England will draft this guy. With so many picks in the mid to late rounds, NE can afford to take on a conversion project that ticks so many boxes. The question is, at least in my mind, will another team beat NE to the podium.
With Reiss stating NE has had 3 contacts with the Reynolds, plus BB's/NE's special relationship with Navy……seems the perfect fit……..NE = slot factory.
Or a 3rd down RB?
Both?

It seems like a foregone conclusion at this point that the Pats will draft Kevin Hogan with one of their three hundred 6th rounders.
