2016 Patriots Active PUP list

Edelman, Amendola, Vollmer, Mason, Lewis, Harbor, Tre' Jackson. They can move off PUP anytime. Only players who spent the entire preseason on Active PUP can be placed on Reserve PUP during roster cutdowns.

Pats have 89 active players and 1 (Michael Williams) on IR.

I'm actually hoping Harbor winds up on the team. That will give the offense just one more match up problem and keep the top two guys fresh...in theory anyway.

That might be the shortest PUP list we've had in a while to start camp. Think of it as a good sign.

No one on that list that even a minor surprise except for maybe Harbor. The rest are all coming off of surgery. In fact I really don't WANT to see Amendola, Edelman, Vollmer and Lewis for the next few weeks. However it would behoove Mason and Jackson to get back ASAP as there jobs are at risk with guys like Cooper and Thuney getting a head start at what will be a VERY competitive position.

BTW- anyone else surprised NOT to see Josh Kline on that list? Add him to that list that is getting a head start on Mason and Jackson.

As for Mason and Jackson, I disagree with you that their jobs are at risk.. They were rookies last year and both had injuries. With the draft capital invested in them, Pats are more likely to give them a full year under Scarnecchia than not..

Mostly veterans on that list. I understand until they actually start practicing they can still be added but I guess anyone added either fails there run or comes in with a previously unknown ailment.


Edit: I just saw your next post about the surgery side of the list that makes alot of sense. But still hopeful this means Blount is good to go. Not needing surgery he's had plenty of time to get healthy. We'll find out Wednesday or Thursday.

Oh, I didn't mean to imply that their spots on the roster are in jeopardy, DB. I was thinking that their chances to end up winning STARTING jobs will be harder by not being on the field. Mason in particular was developing into a potential "special" player IMO, so his being on the PUP list disappointing to me. Hopefully it won't be for long
