2015 Draft Prospect Thread

Grid has started cranking out scouting reports again, and is currently doing 2 a day. Good stuff, and well worth checking out.

He's on the offensive linemen right now, a topic of particular interest.

Pretty wild having write ups for players specifically by fit for our team, on the level of the best scouting reports out there.

A gentleman and a scholar I say.

A comprehensive breakdown of Towson's edge rusher Ryan Delaire at Draft Breakdown.

Delaire best fits as a weak-side defensive end in a 4-3 where he is asked to get upfield and create havoc in the backfield. Initially, Delaire can be a rotational pass-rusher who contributes on special teams until he develops the strength necessary to survive in the run game.

Delaire is a player who showcases NFL caliber tools, but still relies too much on his athletic ability to make plays. Delaire is a high upside player who could develop into a starting caliber defensive end in two-to-three years.

In a league, where the best teams find productive players in the second half of the draft, Delaire is a player who has the tools to make some front office look extremely smart.

I should note that they aren't actually team-specific, my good man, but kind Thanks for your kind words!!

Todd McShay put his top 10 out on twitter.

1. Mariota
2. Williams
3. Cooper
4. Gregory
5. Ray
6. Winston - I think he goes first to TB.
7. Scherff
8. D. Parker- Seems a tad high
9. Gordon
10. Landon Collins.

FWIW, TB hired Oregon coach Mark Helfrich's former mentor, Dirk Koetter, as their offensive coordinator today. Helfrich was the QB coach at when Koetter was at Boise St. Koetter was also an OC at Oregon.

FWIW, I've seen a number of AJ Green comparisons for Parker. Top 10 wouldn't surprise me at all.

Then there was this comparison, from Daniel Jeremiah:
I love Parker, Cooper & DGB on tape but West Virginia's Kevin White is my top WR. He has the same traits as Julio Jones.

I see more Larry Fitzgerald than Julio Jones, personally, but either way it's pretty darn nice.

Good receiver group this draft. Almost as good as last year's.

It's of little value in terms of evaluation but I'd ask that you give this Marcus Hardison highlight video a look-see just so that you can get a bit of a feel for who he is. It's only six minutes long.

I'm still confused as to why an extremely athletic 300lb productive pass rusher isn't getting more attention.

A you say, it's of little value in terms of evaluation; but certainly Harrison's speed stands out. It's very rare to see a guy that big who appears to have legitimate edge speed. Reminds me a bit of Justin Smith.

I haven't been quite as focused on jumbo end/tackle players recently, but I certainly include Hardison along with guys like Arik Amstead, DeForest Bucker (if he declares) and Mario Edwards who deserve serious consideration if the Pats are looking for that kind of player. I'm quite happy that he's still flying under the radar, though I doubt that will last.

Well Grid has slapped a top 3 grade on TJ Clemmings - and I concur. I've called him the OL equivalent to Ziggy Ansah, as in that he's raw but showcases tremendous potential and has near enough perfect size, length and athleticism for the position.

Grid, what do you think of that comparison?

And I didn't know it was Trevor. One can always learn new things from The Grid.

Interesting Justin Smith comparison although I still like my Tuitt comp as a guy of that size that always plays DE.

I think the one thing that might be keeping his stock down is that , as far as I've watched him, he never shifts inside to the 3-tech, he's an every down end. That might be fine for Arizona State but in the NFL, in sub-packages, someone of his size will be expected to shift inside (unless he's Mario Williams) and there's not a lot of tape of him doing that.

Hopefully Grid can do Hardison when he gets round to DE/DTs because I'c love his second opinion for good or bad.

And from you, Brother Manx!!

I love the Comparison!! Perfect!! I was eager to sink my teeth into Clemmings Tape, after your effusive Praise'f the lad over the last few months, and he did not disappoint!!

Honored, Brother!! I shall so endeavor!!

James Cobern has a scouting report on Texas DT Malcolm Brown with a very interesting comparison, at least for me:

Most defensive tackles of his size give up after a play leaves the line of scrimmage, but Brown never stops pursuing. The stamina and intensity he plays with for his size makes most of the other defensive tackles in this class look horrible.

This is a trait I haven’t seen since Delaware’s Zack Kerr was chasing running backs 15 yards down the field who is quickly becoming one of the best 5-techs in the NFL. Brown shows the same motor as Kerr with much more power.

Some of you hopefully remember that I was a big fan of Zach Kerr last year so this comp is especially interesting to me.

Awesome work grid. On the site it is Aaron Dobson report and i see that he is just redzone target and 3/4 rd pick. After we drafted him someone on this forume posted that he grows quickly and that he isnt used to his tall body yet and that he ll develop. U still think that he is 3/4 rd value, or that he maybe has upside. Cause i think that we could go Mathieu 2nd, Dobson 3d, the only reason for Ryan and Harmon were picked so high was cause Schiano was in Tampa
Still hope that u are wrong with ur Dobson evaluation and that he isnt just redzone.

One of the things that I love about Grid's scouting reports is that he never pulls his punches. You know exactly where he stands. No one's perfect and every one misses from time to time, but it's very valuable when someone you respect independently makes an assessment and goes "all in" one way or the other. Compare Grid's scouting report on Clemmings with that on Andrus Peat, another highly rated OL prospect. Or Brandon Scherff, who Todd McShay still has as a top 10 pick. Mackenzie Pantoja was another guy who wasn't afraid to take a stand on a prospect.

Thanks for the info. Didn't reallize that. I'll be mocking Mariota to TB. How bout this trade? Cutler to Tennessee. Chicago moves from 7 to 2 for Winston??

Thank you, Sir!! I retain my original Perspective on Dobson, but I, too, hope to be proven wrong!!
