And only one on each team was a high draft pick of that team. I can't think of a team that has two high round draft picks splitting time, unless one has become a clear bust.

And yes, I do see the irony considering in my mock I have Tampa Bay trading up to take Lynch at 24. This means:

........

So, what do people think about me selecting this dude at 30?

He ranked well on the Power/Explosion Test, too

Good pick that fills a need, he is very consistent and very underrated, I wouldn't be surprised if he turns out a better pro than Huff.

I like the pick he's one of my favorite players in this draft.

I'm interested to see what happens from now until my next pick.

I won't even bother to critique the Pats picks. After all this is only a mock, and on draft day, there's no way GMs round the league will pick the top 23 the way this mock unfolded. :bricks:

Those really in the know value these prospects a bit differently than the average (or even astute fan). Pay attention to those 'risers and sliders' boys and girls, because they most certainly will affect round one -- and more importantly -- the Pats picks.

That said, the Pats expect a future starter at #24 (year two at the latest). At #28 -- the scenarios are numerous -- but the prospects aren't.

Safer, yes. And it's true that the Pats have always taken "safe" players -- relatively sure things, no big question marks -- in the first. But part of that safeness is topflight athleticism. By the 2nd round when all of the sure things are gone, they often gamble on the fabulous physical specimens with question marks around them...like Macauley. And this is their 2nd pick. (Admittedly, that kind of gambling has yielded some of their shakiest picks like B. Johnson and M. Hill.)

Anyway, which safer picks would you have preferred?

I'm not really at liberty to name names at the moment as my team is slated to pick in the 2nd, twice, and who knows who will slide in this draft? I will revisit this comment after my picks but you probably have a pretty good idea if you think about it.

Generally speaking though look at the OTHER players selected so far between 25-30. Most of those players look like safer picks imo. McCauley has a boom or bust look to him.

He's an excellent choice. I think he could be a really decent SS, one to be feared. You saved me a dilemma. I had him on my board, but he doesn't really fill a need, as they have two good young safeties.

How's your board looking now? Pretty threadbare?

I'm very disappointed you haven't joined the poetry fray.

Belichickcat was a mystery cat or somesuch....

I think speculation before the pick is contrary to the intent of this game. It might affect picks and thoughts. I'd personally like to see it stop. Talk all day about previous picks. Future picks should have absolute freedom.

Don't you think you're taking this whole mock draft thing a little too seriously? If you don't want to hear discussion of your pick simply don't look! And if you're that easily influenced then you probably shouldn't be participating in the 1st place. The primary idea behind the discussion is to speed up the process in case there's another absentee & their pick needs to be voted on.

Your psychological profiling is horrible.

I think that other people may agree that when we speculate about someone's pending pick, it may alter the outcome in various ways. He may have forgotten about someone the next choice wants, etc..

The draft is proceeding faster than most people expected, I imagine. I think the primary idea behind the discussion is to make sure people make rational decisions and to razz them if they don't.

If you want to diasgree with my request, fine. Just spare me your brainless insults.

My board (for the first round) is down to five names. I have decided on two of those as picks and would be happy with either of them. I have to be, as I am not picking again until the bottom of the third. I shall join in the poetry fray later, once I am not on my work PC. BTW, OT, but my manager has approved a transfer to a team in Islington. Woo hoo! :rocker:

Where in that my post did I insult you? This isn't a fantasy football draft. I think we should be helping each other out to get the most accurate mock draft possible.

My pick profiling has now changed from "guys I've never even seen play" to "guys I've never even heard of", but even with that I'm confident I can retool the Cleveland Browns as well as their FO...

OT: Congratulations. Is Islington a good move? I imagine it's marginally better than Hackney but I can't see there being much in it?

Seems like a good place from Hugh Grant movies.

Hey I just checked in, I took Meachem for the Eagles, because of BPA. You could say they need secondary help, but I see them addressing that in the 2nd to 3rd round. They like Dawkins and Considine so I did not see a need there. The only player I might have taken looking back is Anthony Spencer, I like his athleticism and ability to slide in between DL and OLB. Brown is a solid WR, Curtis is a better as a 3rd WR, and then besides those two they do not have a good 2nd WR.

I am going to bum out if chunkpony takes the alloted 2 days to make his pick...

Me too, I sent him a PM last night at 10pm. HE can if he want to though.
