:ditto: :agree: :yeahthat:

That said, the pick made me happy in this context, as Meachem missed another team and looked like a possibility. He was the last of my 1st rounders available (besides Lynch, which NO has no use for with Deuce and Bush).

Just thinking, as much grief as the poor guy from NE is getting for taking on the responsibility...

What is the consensus on the Philly pick?

Meachem is highly regarded here, but Philly has much bigger needs, they just got Curtis, etc., and plenty of players at those positions are available.

Was it an acceptible BPA, or was it a need filled, missed the boat?

Meachem was a solid pick. Right now the Eagles WR corps is Reggie Brown, Kevin Curtis, Hank Baskett, Jeremy Bloom, Jason Avant, Greg Lewis, and Bethel Johnson.

Philly doesn't strike me as a team with very many needs. Nickel corner. Outside Linebacker. Maybe get younger at safety and OL.

Meachem can be justified as BPA and greatest need pick.

So, Lynch can't be justified for NE, but Meachem can for the Eagles? They don't need WR's. The Eagles like Brown and he's developed, which is partly why they didn't care about giving Stallworth a big contract. Then they signed Kevin Curtis, and Hank Baskett is actually a pretty good WR, as well.

They will probably take a Safety (they actually need one of those) LB, or a pass rusher. They might take someone like Anthony Spencer, Michael Griffin, Beason, or Timmons (if still on the board).

This is what the Eagles have for WR's:
84 Baskett, Hank WR 6-4 220 2 New Mexico Clovis, NM
86 Brown, Reggie WR 6-1 197 3 Georgia Carrollton, GA
81 Avant, Jason WR 6-0 212 2 Michigan Chicago, IL
80 Curtis, Kevin WR 5-11 186 5 Utah State South Jordan, UT
19 Gasperson, Michael WR 6-4 220 1 Univ. of San Diego Monterey, CA
17 Jamison, Jermaine - e WR 6-3 200 1 Fresno State Los Angeles, CA
13 Sampy, Bill WR 5-11 192 1 Louisiana Lafayette Carencro, LA
83 Lewis, Greg WR 6-0 180 5 Illinois Matteson, IL
0 Outlaw, J.J. - e

Safeties:
37 Considine, Sean S 6-0 212 3 Iowa Byron, IL
33 Harris, Erick - e S 5-11 208 1 Liberty Crestview, FL
27 Mikell, Quintin S 5-10 206 5 Boise State
20 Brian Dawkins S 6'00'' 210 11 Clemson

22 Hanson, Joselio CB 5-9 185 3 Texas Tech Inglewood, CA
24 Brown, Sheldon CB 5-10 200 6 South Carolina Ft. Lawn, SC
26 Sheppard, Lito CB 5-10 194 6 Florida Jacksonville, FL

LB's:

96 Gaither, Omar LB 6-1 235 2 Tennessee Charlotte, NC
54 Trotter, Jeremiah LB 6-1 262 10 Stephen F. Austin Hooks, TX
51 Spikes, Takeo LB 6-2 242 10 Auburn Sandersville, GA
53 Roper, Dedrick LB 6-2 245 3 Northwood Milpitas, CA
52 Richmond, Greg LB 6-1 235 2 Oklahoma St. Oklahoma City, OK
50 McCoy, Matt LB 5-11 230 3 San Diego State Tustin, CA
0 Kobel, Craig - e LB 6-2 265 1 South Florida Lake Worth, FL
55 Jones, Dhani LB 6-1 240 8 Michigan Potomac, MD

They have Kearse and others at DE, but he's getting old and coming off injury.

The Reality of it is that it is a moot point if Lynch fell that far in the real draft the phones in NE would be blowing up with trade offers

We're equally restricted by this decision (no trades). To fixate or rely on it, within the scope of this exercise, is to waste energy and do nothing else. (Again, the term "waste energy" is used lightly considering...)

A couple hours removed from my 1st round, home-run swing, I say this not to be condescending or to start shot. I would have done anything else other than have to choose where I did. It worked out for me and I will suit my future picks accordingly.

anyone have a suggestion who the Pat's should pick here?

I think speculation before the pick is contrary to the intent of this game. It might affect picks and thoughts. I'd personally like to see it stop. Talk all day about previous picks. Future picks should have absolute freedom.

McCauley. With the Samuel situation and the unresolved status of Gay this is a position of need. McCauley is the best available CB.

Sebman, I wonder if you could write the positions short version (LB for linebacker, WR for wide receiver, etc). Picks reading would be clearer. Thanks.

At the risk of repeating myself, do we really want to use two first-round picks on a running-back-by-committee? Am I crazy in thinking that if we used our first pick last year on a running back, we want him to be a stud workhorse?

Look at the two SB participants. Both had a solid RB tandem.

I agree that Maroney hasn't earned the alpha dog label (that's we I said "the guy we want to be alpha dog), but if you don't think Maroney's proven himself, why do you seem to think Lynch has proven himself, as in "Maroney-Lynch immediately puts us up at the top of the league in terms of a rushing attack"?

I'm assuming Lynch won't be a total bust.

Just in case. I'm the only one who thinks so?

When the owner asks for it....

I'm not sure I understand, If the future pick asks for advice, it's cool? I'm cool with that, I reluctantlessly guess. I still think: Most regular posters are wont to crucify Mangini, et al for tampering. I see speculation about future picks as similar. I don't think that it is too much to ask that speculation is restricted to previous picks.

UGH, you stole Chris Houston from me! YOU PIG!

How am I going to piss off PatChick now?

Too funny, my first thought when I saw that pick was "that's sure going to piss off mavfan!"

Seriously, you have a tough call here...brace yourself for a swarm of second guessing!

How does everyone like the pick? I personally rank my CB's like this....

1a. Chris Houston
1b. Darrelle Revis
2. Marcus McCauley
3. Josh Wilson
4. Leon Hall
5. Eric Wright

I agree I think thats what makes the game interesting is making the pick on your own and getting second guessed. I like the discussions about previous picks but not future picks.

Yeah, I forgot mavfan was the Pats owner so when I saw the post which asked who should the Pats pick I figured that poster was the Pats owner when in reality he owned a different team. But still, in the real thing I think GM's are always reading about who they should pick by word of mouth or by reading a professional scouting service or even reading a fan message forum like this in some cases. The GM's are constantly talking to each other regarding trades so I'm sure they're also discussing prospects they like and don't like. And you must always keep in mind the motives of other GM's. If you pick solely by what they recommend you probably shouldn't be in the business in the first place.

Marcus McCauley??????????? Good thing I'm now the GM of the Dirty Birds or I would be really pissed. Marcus McCauley?????? In the First round? I guess that leaves better players for me later (39 & 44 I think).
