It's too bad for the Patriots. Had they measured them as they came out of the tunnel, they would've been to spec. Had they then measured them at half-time, they would've been under. They would've been forced to accept that PV = nRT was reason for deflation.

The few minutes the balls were out of NFL control and the leak our ball attendant took gives what little life their tin foil speculations have.

The refs "gauged" and initialed them before the game. If the refs okay-ed them, there's no need for suspicion...until something alerted them to check them at halftime.

As its now known the Colts notified the NFL before the game, wouldn't the Colts wanted to make sure the balls were to spec at the start of the game? So whatever happened after isn't the Patriots fault.

I'm leaning toward 'Colts over inflated their balls knowing balls deflate naturally and that the Pats start at the low limit' -- balls were flying off Colts receivers hands, and it could've been because the cold weather + over-inflation made them harder to catch

Someone said it elsewhere - the ridiculous and unwarranted slander against a random Patriots employee yesterday really opened the door for Kraft to call for some kind of action beyond just waiting for Wells report.
