Thanks for this Kontra. I literally sprayed coffee on my monitor I laughed so hard.

Actually, the games are won in practice the week before the game

I think they're won by whichever coach isn't preoccupied with bi-curious fantasies and pimping his wife out to strangers via online BDSM sites.

Re: Jets vs Patriots game will be won/lost in the 1st quarter. Plus more '45-3' analy

You don't lose games in the first quarter.

Well, doh, we all know that. I think what the OP was saying is that the seeds of the loss were sown in the first quarter by the Jets. For me, when Rex did that silly inexplicable challenge in the first quarter of that game is what sealed it for me. It was already an act of desperation of a coach who knew he was WAY over his head (all the way down to his toes---sorry...just can't resist!!...) in that game. Of course you play 60 minutes and the Pats did that, but as a fan watching it I knew it was already over at that point. There was no way in heck the Pats were going to lose that game.

Re: Jets vs Patriots game will be won/lost in the 1st quarter. Plus more '45-3' analy

1. Jets don't have to cover them as much as keep the receivers in front of them. You don't get it. I was saying that the passes caught on the Jets for the most part were short passes in space. The point is not to let that space occur. The only time a pass was thrown deep that hurt us

2. Jets had their running game going in that game too. Greene averaged 4.9 YPC and LaDanian 4.7 YPC. Sanchez just didn't play well. He def has to play better in order for the Jets to win.

3. Different team...different O-line...different system.

4. Revis covered a Branch for a bit too. Even drew an offensive pass interference on him.

Jets loss in that game came down to a lack of basic fundamentals.

On the Deion Branch TD pass...Cromartie allowed a free release from the line of scrimmage and got burned.

Wes Welker practically dragging Drew Coleman with him along the sideline to a TD...not even using the sideline as an extra man like a well coached CB should.

On that 1 yard TD pass to Aaron Hernandez...no one accounted for him coming off of his block in the goal line run formation. Another lack of
fundamentals.

Also, the Jets didn't tackle well. I remember BenJarvus Green-Ellis breaking several tackles many a times.

We completely sh*t the bed. Patriots played exceptionally.

In summary, Rex and the Jets lost the game. The Pats didnt win it.

im not sure i ever seen a team win a playoff game in the first QT that beat down the pats gave the jets was along time ago this is a new game and a new season

the jets will bring there A game on sunday the pats wont win by more then a TD

Re: Jets vs Patriots game will be won/lost in the 1st quarter. Plus more '45-3' analy

I can see this game being won/lost in the first quarter. That's the Pats win and the Jets lose because Sanchez makes some mistakes, the Pats D capitalizes and the Pats get out to a quick lead just like last game. However, that game has nothing to do with this game.

BB will coach and make decisions the same way he did in the regular season. It will be the situations, weather conditions, and how the team is playing that will factor into making a decision.

BTW, Tate was in on that TD reception, he had one foot down and his wrist/forearm hit inbounds too. If Rexy would've challenged that, he would've lost that one too.

Re: Jets vs Patriots game will be won/lost in the 1st quarter. Plus more '45-3' analy

Dunno why this was done. Replays clearly show that Keller was a shy of the first down. Rex challenged the play anyway, and lost, which was costly.
If Rex doesn't challenge this then maybe he challenges and wins the Brandon Tate, referee discussed, touchdown reception.

He got a foot, knee and his wrist/forearm down in bounds. That's a TD.

Re: Jets vs Patriots game will be won/lost in the 1st quarter. Plus more '45-3' analy

The problem with keeping small, quick receivers "in front of you" is two-fold:

One, that's EXACTLY what they want you to do, so they can grab a clean ball, make a quick move to make you miss (unless you think Cromartie missing tackles in that game was a fluke, and not because he's simply a horrible tackler), and get YAC.

Two, it's like saying we want to get pressure on Brady with a three man rush. Of course you do, that makes a ton of sense, but CAN you do it? It's a lot easier said than done.

Re: Jets vs Patriots game will be won/lost in the 1st quarter. Plus more '45-3' analy

The mistakes that the Jet's fan poster highlighted absolutely aided the Patriots in turning that game into a rout. When Rex challenged that play, I thought we already had them on their heels. But I still think the Patriots win that game by at least 1 TD even if you take away the boneheaded coaching moves the Jets made.

What is the Jet's most effective asset? the running game
The Pats will need to neutralize that and make the Jets 1-dimesional.

If the Jets play mistake-free (not likely), run well (O-line wins their matchups) this could be a very close contest. I think Sanchez suc%s, but he has shown the ability to pull games out of his arse late. So, the Pats do need to be aggresive and attack the Jet defense from the get-go, try to get up by more than 1 score and pressure Sancheez. I will be nervous if we start out in all conservative feeling them out mode. I would like to see a few carefully selected safety blitzes or overloads to keep Snachez from finding any rhythm whatsoever.

The crowd needs to be a factor and help cause mistakes. So if you are goin, stay on your feet (even in the red seats!), you will be warmer too

Brady will be able to take whatever the defense gives him, so he should be fine especially if he has a full magazine of BJGE, Danny, Wes, Deion, Aaron, Gronk, Tate, Crump to work with.

Agree with this. During the last game, the crowd was nice and loud, not just when the Jest were ready to snap the ball, but also while they were sending in plays and during the huddle. It definitely caused confusion. Let's have more of the same!

Just to let people know. Right now there are more people and probably more money on the Jets than on New England. The line isn't even ten points. It's kinda hard to play the "nobody believed in us" game when more than half the bettors out there do. All the press that I've seen equates to a slightly toned down version of last time. Everybody is saying that the Jets have a chance if they play well. I still don't think they have the safeties or pass rush to handle this two TE offense. The Jets have yet to see our new defensive weapon either.

Blah .. blah ... blah ....

See you Sunday.

We play. That's what we do. We don't talk, we play. You come in Foxboro, it's gonna be snowing. It's gonna be cold. Come on in here. You want to say all you want, you want to change the rules? Change them. We still play. And we win. That's what we do.

Re: Jets vs Patriots game will be won/lost in the 1st quarter. Plus more '45-3' analy

First quarter is always important, I do believe the JETS make decent adjustments in the 2nd half of games most of the time so if we start well and get maybe 17ish points in the first half I think we will be in a good position.

Blah! Blah! Blah! Sanchez sucks. The New England Patriots will score at least 31 points as has been the case the last eight games.
