1995 New England Patriots Season

So I spent my Friday last night digitizing an old VHS copy I had kicking around from 1995 of the Patriots season that year. The tape had degraded big time but thanks to some serious deinterlacing and denoising processing, the image quality isn't that bad. The audio however, is seriously awful although you can make out what is being said if you listen carefully. Anyway, the YouTube link is below so feel free to enjoy the mediocrity that was the 1995 New England Patriots season.

i loved from minute '26...throwbacks

what a game from Tony Eason against Seattle

""And so, 2 1/2 hours of negotiating Tuesday wrapped up a process that took months. The Patriots held a press conference Wednesday to announce Bledsoe's $103 million, 10-year deal, the richest in NFL history, eclipsing the $100 million, 10-year deal Brett Favre just signed with the Packers.
So why were the three men on the dais -- Bledsoe, owner Bob Kraft and coach Bill Belichick -- smiling?""

It's March 28, 2001...........a year into the Belichick coach/"GM" reign of power in NE..........and he's handing out a 10 year contract to a QB that he's not all that enamored with?
Looking at the structure of this contract.....so many questions.

1) Was BB really in charge of football operations? How many 10 year contracts has BB doled out in his career? How many 9 figure contracts?

2) Did BB win the negotiation giving NE many outs with layered team options?

"But, according to the Patriots, the only part of the contract that is guaranteed is a four-year portion worth no less than $14 million and possibly a little more than $30 million. Bledsoe will be 32 when the team must decide to pick up additional years."

3) Did Bledsoe get snookered by Leigh Steinberg/David Dunn with "phony" 10 year contract to boost their cred more so than boost Bledsoe's bank account? Steinberg was a hot mess during at the end of his glory years and I forgot how bad it got.

Football Star Tells of Agent's Foibles

Back to the lead quote......"Belichick--smiling"........I'd like to see that picture....because I believe Krafty was pulling the strings that controlled BB's lips and Bob's was focus was singularonly ....retaining his "star" when the new stadium came on line.
God Bless Mo Lewis

I would have hoped for Bill to do what he did in Cleveland: cut Kozar.
Bob really liked Drew.
Once Mo Lewis helped us out, Bill had his chips in place: Brady was #2 and ready to go.
Bill was smart enough to tune out those in the locker room (and, in the local media, owner's booth and the stands) with personal loyalties to Drew. Then (as usual), he endured much undeserved criticism, with Bledsoe being a baby about it. (PC Alert!) Yes I believe he tried his best here. No, I never considered him an elite QB.

Flutie, on the other hand, had the rug pulled out from under him (again) by Berry in '88, when the Patriots had a solid defense and the best RB in the AFC, healthy John Stephens, and could have beaten anybody, including the banged-up Bengals. You saw how close the Super Bowl was that year. (PC Alert!) Nothing against Tony Eason, but he never should have been started over healthy and active Flutie or Grogan.
