Boone's hr wasn't talked about after 04, and 07. Bruins collapse against Philly was a mere footnote after 2011. Is 07 now just something people won't talk about as much because of 14 and 16? My friend asked me if 07 hurt. I say yes but the memory of that game fades more after what we've witnessed the last three seasons.

I’ve never met anyone who loves this teams losses (including the ones you look forward to in the future) than you.

Sports brings me pleasure ... not hurt ... and the Patriots have enabled a ton of it.

Hurt happens in the real world - sports is entertainment.

Maybe. I don't know. Was just thinking that it might be easier for someone who grew up in the 70's - 90's to appreciate the winning these teams have produced as opposed to someone who grew up only witnessing seemingly championship after championship.

Failure to let Gostkowski kick, and dropping back to pass a million times against a team whose only positive ability was rushing the passer, let the game be close.

Afterward, even in the bitterness of losing a title and undefeated season after having been raked over the coals and dragged through the mud unjustly and undeservedly the seven months prior, several Pats showed grace and class in acknowledging that Eli got to get out from his older brother's shadow.

But the Giants typically showed their classlessness and unrootability by dressing for the Patriots' "funeral" prior to the last game of a season dedicated to Marquise Hill, who lost his life after saving a young woman. This, only weeks after everyone treating Sean Taylor like he was a head of state or something.

Bitter losses for sure. But I wouldn't trade the last 17 years for anything. Those bitter losses made the Championships that much sweeter. Shoving the gates up Roger's ass made those Championships sweeter. Winning those Championships in historic fashion made them that much sweeter.

Beginning in 2001, in every single game the Patriots have played, they were in contention for the Super Bowl. For 16 plus seasons, they have not played one game in which they were not still a potential champion.

You gotta appreciate the hell out of that.

There are 32 NFL teams. Therefore on average the team you root for should win a championship once every 32 years. The first one should come in the median of that span, in the 16th season of a fan following that club.

With that in mind if you became a fan immediately out of the womb, your team should win it all at age 16, again at age 48, and once more at at age 80.

It took a little while, but as I tell anyone whoever attempts to give me grief over a Patriot loss, I already had myself a lifetime full of Super Bowl celebrations within a four-year span. Everything else is gravy.

Then to top it off I got to witness two more over three seasons.

To bemoan a championship that was not won in these circumstances would be like a billionaire being depressed over not having as much money as a multi-billionaire.




tl;dr: no, the losses don't bother me at all.

I moved to Long Island in 2006. After the absurd AFCCG loss to the Colts, I had Randy, Wes and 18-0 going. Then this game happened. And I had to hear it from the Giants fans. I still hear funny little remarks like "18-1 was pretty good".

Part of what makes 2006 sting, maybe more than 2007 for me, was the game-changing call the NFL had to quietly apologize for blowing.

Brady destroyed Pittsburgh earlier that year too. Imo they win the SB if they beat the Jets. I'm not sure what caused them to come out and play bad. Maybe they thought the Jets would be too scared after the MNF beatdown. Maybe it was Welker distraction.

06 AFCCG loss stung. After Samuel took it to the house, I went online and ordered tickets to Miami.

I'll say this about 07: That team has a better chance of winning the SB if they lose to Baltimore on Monday night or Philly in SNF. I believe the weight of being undefeated hurt them. Also, remember how the Patriots gained confidence after losing to the Rams by seven in 01? Same with Giants keeping it close in finale. Nonetheless, I can watch that game without feeling bitterness anymore.

The Colts deliberately gave up on a 16-0 season in 2009. How did that work out for them in the Super Bowl? I doubt the Ravens game meant much of a difference in the end. A more likely explanation...the league had caught up with them.

Am I missing something here? Why is it stupid? He's asking if 18-1 is less painful after the SB wins. Personally I thought it was a good question. I think it might address a generational gap in a perspective sense.

But I think you're younger so I'm curious of what you think. ( I'm assuming that you're in your twenties or there abouts.)

It doesn't bother me, but I've dealt with trolls in the past who do silly things like this. To me, the title appeared to be a troll title and that conclusion comes from experience to seeing this sort of thing.
