Not sure I agree with their later comment “The Patriots have had a habit of racking those up with avoidable missteps, making Hill's presence even more relevant.”
I think that is a bit recency (Mayo) bias. Not sure “Vrabel” teams have this tendency, in game 1, or otherwise, but not looking up Titans penalty stats just to prove a MSoron wrong, thank you!

NFL teams were informed at Wednesday’s league meeting that the three people making replay decisions this season from league headquarters in New York will be replay veterans Mark Butterworth and Mike Annibale, along with former NFL referee and head of the officiating department Al Riveron. Riveron rejoins the league after spending the past four years as the ACC’s supervisor of officials.

Well he does have Fucik (1st year official side-judge) on his team now. So he has that going for him. ….. When he makes a mistake he can just yell “F###” and everyone will think the side judge is to blame.

He may be inconsistent as a ref & have some tendencies that don’t favor Pats style, but he is apparently no Troy Vincent or Rogah GoToHell. ( he doesn’t appear to be pats biased).
After reading the tweet that set me off ( commenting about the 2025 Pats- Saints game Bad Diggs OPI call) decision), I was hot to find out more about this loser. My bio research kinda disproved my loser hypothesis.

So I went back and looked at report on that call. Turns out he relied on his Line Judge ( Mapp) who apparently was an idiot and couldn’t remember things that happened 30 seconds ago, or can’t see DB initial contact, or was taking sports betting money ( who knows). Regardless, Hill threw Mapp under the bus without making it obvious/ unprofessional (said we & didn’t name Mapp outright).

So, it appears Hill has some issues in his team, particularly in secondary officiating (cause there were more bad calls in the Aints game), but not so much himself. He appears to just be guy getting blame for his subordinates f-ups. And video replay isn’t fixing what the head ref can’t be reasonably expected to be able to see either.

After the game, Hill did a pool report with ESPN's Mike Reiss as the head of the crew (line judge Julian Mapp was closest to Diggs when the penalty was committed). He gave his answer on why the flag was thrown.
"On that play, we ruled blocking downfield by number eight, early during the play," Hill explained. "So, if there is a situation where a player blocks downfield, it's not a foul until a pass is thrown, so you kind of put that in the bank. And then the pass was thrown downfield later, that created the offensive pass interference."

"The official was processing the play and then he came to me over the O20 [official-to-official communications system]," Hill says. "Because it was a long-developing play, he had to rewind back to what happened at the beginning of the play, and process that."
