Player Signing Patriots Finally Get Gabe Jacas Under Contract

ticks me off that he missed practice... should have been at the facility ready to go... these contracts don't get done in a vacuum
Yes. It's all Gabe's fault. He shouldn't have protected himself. He should have shown up without a participation contract and risked tens of millions in future salary.

How do you know he didn't have his bags packed and wasn't waiting for the Pats and he to come to a reasonable agreement to get him there???

Defensive schemes have evolved beyond the simple 4-3 / 3-4 schemes of old... He's not a 2 gap player...

It's good he's signed, but he's not starting out ahead of the curve...

Just one man's opinion... Ymmv
How do you know he's not starting out "ahead of the curve"? Do you know that Jacas didn't get ALL-22 video of the Pats to study? Do we know he didn't get the play-book and wasn't studying it the entire time so he could come in prepared?

Let's stop projecting where Jacas may or may not be because none of us ACTUALLY know what he's been doing. Only he and the team know that.

Nobody suggested this. The two scenarios were pointed out in the event this continued to drag out.
Clearly, someone did. @DoubleDeluxe doesn't go around posting things that didn't happen like some long-time posters on this board. I didn't personally see it, but DD has earned my trust in that if he says it happened, it did.

Can you prove that it didn't happen?

Let's see how he does in camp - I'm still open to Clowney for low money but they can now hold off on that. Clowney will probably wait out the pre-season and sign late like he did last year after camp injuries anyways

If the Pats could get Clowney at the same 3.5M that Dallas got but with Incentives, it wouldn't be bad.. We'll just have to wait and see.

In the first quarter after not making the first 3rd and 10
Nah, all over these and other fansites daily… but also and especially on gameday.

I’ve always held the belief things said on gameday threads don’t really count. But if you’re still saying something days afterwards, that’s on you.

Some fans never saw someone playing poorly, it was always a a lack of athleticism. Execution was not even a thing, it didn’t exist or matter.

Too old, too slow, no defense, no talent…from 2014-2019 that was the mantra from local media and a large swath of fans.

Jacas is a beast, I hope he gets healthy and his head dialed in. This team has gobs of talent, even if some talent is less tested. Go Pats!

How do you know he's not starting out "ahead of the curve"?
Ugh me all you want

When did the off season programs start?
how many otas were missed?
and mandatory mini-camp?
What is todays date?

That's how i know.

As for "getting the All-22" fantasy stuff - watching ain't doing.

Was he in attendance ?

Thats how i know

But the team would not allow that, because they did not want to give him any indemnification in case he aggravated the injury.
Please re-read after you contextualize MGs post

You being redundant by saying "off-season program" and then piling on OTAs and Minicamp makes things worse? It doesn't. It shows you're trying to exaggerate things for effect.

OTAs and Mini-Camp are NON-CONTACT situations. Feel free to tell everyone how a DE goes about practicing his moves against an OT when no contact is allowed. I

You're also ridiculously downplaying the mental aspect of the game. Especially for a guy like Jacas who is touted for understanding how to set up OTs to beat them with a variety of moves. Want to know where a guy like Jacas learns those things? You guess it. Watching film and LIVE Contact drills.

Did he have a contract?

EDIT: Ty McKenzie says HI. He's one of the reasons the NFL implemented Participation Contracts for players prior to them officially signing their contract.

While not ideal, coming into camp on the 2nd day of camp is nothing in the great scheme of things. Between rookie camp and the OTA's he probably missed a total of 6 shorts and T-shirt practices. That puts him just a bit behind which can easily be made up over the course of the next 5 weeks of camp. If it has stretched into mid-August or later, THEN you'd have a case that the hold out was going to hurt his rookie season.... but it DIDN'T, so much ado about nothing.

Now we need to find out if he is full go, or will he be added to the PUP list.

as expected, it was just a matter of time.
Funny how some talked about him re-enetering the draft and us trading him for a bag of peanuts.
Even had some posters say he had an attitude problem.
When will we learn.
If anyone is ever telling you to be worried about a rookie not being signed late into the offseason. Don’t listen.

will campbell didnt sign his deal until june 3 ... he managed to make it to otas and rookie mini-camp last year... aint no reason for gabe to hold out, not when they can provide guarantees AS YOU point out ... so THANK YOU for making my point for me

so maybe remove the "i don't agree" from my post because you obviously do agree

Please re-read after you contextualize MGs post
I reread them all…

All the way back to the post MG was responding to, that’s this one:
Yup, you are right... Can't do anything about the way it played out...

The only thing I can do is exercise my prerogative, which is to ***** about it because I can...

He should have known things were getting close... Riding a bike on the sidelines is a better look than not being present at all...

Don't mean I'm right or that I'm wrong... It be how I feel is all
This is where it started. You saying he should’ve been riding a bike on the sidelines when he really didn’t have that option. He’s not under contract. He hasn’t signed a participation agreement. He’s not going to be able to be on the sidelines. Neither the team not the player would allow it.

Perhaps Jacas thought that he would be better off training on his own rather than riding a bike and dealing with the press.
Makes sense to me, plus I don’t think he had an option without a contract or a participation agreement.

when is a player, who is rehabbing, better off training on his own? the answer is never given the potential ramifications... it is always better under the auspices of the team in case the player is re-aggravates the injury...

Perhaps if he is training on his own, then the rumors of "injuries/rehab" are over exaggerated and were not a big deal after all, they were just an excuse... which means that his ass should be in camp with his team / teammates / coaches

my 2¢... ymmv
Without a contract or a participation agreement he does not have the option of doing anything “under the auspices of the team”.

Why is that concept so hard for you to grasp?

Or are you just using this as a way to reiterate your belief he should’ve signed no matter what crap contract the team presented?
But the team would not allow that, because they did not want to give him any indemnification in case he aggravated the injury.
Nothing in the context changes this, despite your hopeful obfuscation.

He hasn’t signed a participation agreement.
he didnt sign, what? a standard participation agreement? jfc...
Or are you just using this as a way to reiterate your belief he should’ve signed no matter what crap contract the team presented?
what a stupid statement, but that's no real surprise at this point... he's a second round pick, with the numbers basically slotted by the guy before him and the guy after him... "crap contract offer" my ass... stop reading your own press clippings, your points aren't as strong as you seem to think they are

Nothing in the context changes this, despite your hopeful obfuscation.
hopeful obfuscation? what am i trying to hide? that he would not sign a participation agreement that players sign every year?

what an absolute ******** post by you

So when's his physical? That oughta be... interesting...
I think the PR would be bad for both sides if their was a failed physical. IMO the actual physical was done in the past 24 hours and the dog and pony show "physical" will happen in a day or 2 with flying colors.

You’re obviously irrational about this. Not able to have an intelligent conversation. Bye bye.
