Per Jordan Schultz:

From Vrable's earlier press conference:

On if there's any update on Gabe Jacas' contract situation:

"No, not today. Not with Gabe, not yet. Not from when we met yesterday."

On if he's local to the team:

"I do not think that Gabe is local. I don't think that he's in New England."

Reiss did report ealrier that significant progress had been made, so it looks like it got done:

Finally, i just found all of that so needless over what will have likely have been a trivial amount of guaranteed money by Patriots/NFL standards.

I get pre existing injuries are big thing but the potential stunting of development in year 1 and getting the relationship off on the wrong foot seems not worth it given they've eventually got it done so the injury issue couldn't have been that serious, might have got it done just in time to stop his rookie season being totally sank by this.

Now slow roll him into shape so we avoid the soft tissue BS that comes from layoffs
He’s posted videos showing he is working out on his own, just like every other player does during the offseason.

as expected, it was just a matter of time.
Funny how some talked about him re-enetering the draft and us trading him for a bag of peanuts.
Even had some posters say he had an attitude problem.
When will we learn.

about freaking time gabe...

ticks me off that he missed practice... should have been at the facility ready to go... these contracts don't get done in a vacuum

We don't know if he woulda been on the filed anyway with his injury.
DE/pass rusher is one of the least complex positions for a rook.
Assuming they aren't asking him to drop back in some exotic coverage, he will be fine missing a practice or two.

That’s right. Contracts take both the team and the player to agree.

And part of what fills the vacuum is health and injury rehab.

It is what it is.

His agent has a history of late signings, fortunately this is over and done with.

Nobody suggested this. The two scenarios were pointed out in the event this continued to drag out.

Defensive schemes have evolved beyond the simple 4-3 / 3-4 schemes of old... He's not a 2 gap player...

It's good he's signed, but he's not starting out ahead of the curve...

Just one man's opinion... Ymmv

The mere talk of it was incredibly premature.
He wasn't the first, and won't be the last to have a his rook contract drag out.
It wasn't an indicator of his character, and certainly wasn't worth talking about re-enetring the draft.
It was always going to get done.

It is what it is.
Yup, you are right... Can't do anything about the way it played out...

The only thing I can do is exercise my prerogative, which is to ***** about it because I can...

He should have known things were getting close... Riding a bike on the sidelines is a better look than not being present at all...

Don't mean I'm right or that I'm wrong... It be how I feel is all
