Jacas

These experiences are great when they stick. Every guy comes back with similar positive comments, but only a few stick with the comments over time. Let's hope Jacas is one of those guys that sees his vision through into the future.

Some guys train running in sand at the ocean, OR have a chef, executive manager, baby mama, pop singer mama, etc., and that leads to less than optimal results. I only have a chef and maid, so it is a lot simpler in my household

How do you cope without a butler?

They were trying to move up with both Indy and Philly. Tells you how much they wanted him. I'm really excited to watch him lining up for the Pats. He became an immediate binkie of mine when I started watching his film and looking at the different reports during the Combine.. Along with Rodriguez, Jacas was the one guy I mocked to the Pats every chance I could.

And you made me look better too by getting me to look at him again.

They clearly identified him as a priority target. I'm a little leary of jumping feet first on the "he would have been worth a 1st round pick" bandwagon after being disappointed by Keion White and (to a much lesser degree) Christian Barmore, but I'm hopeful.

Its still way to early to write KWs post mortem.
It didnt work out ideally for the Patriots but thats only one part of the story regarding draft binkies working out ; )
So much is about situation.
He was drafted for specific defense and had an ok BB DE rookie year.
He even managed to have a breakout season under Mayo trainwreck.
Compared to Trey Flowers he was ahead of schedule : )
And Trey Flowers went from bust to keep him at all cost in 3 years by pats fans..

I still think it was the right pick at the time and could've gone the Flowers path under BB . but circumstances did play a major role - changing 4 HCs and a number od DCs - especially for a guy that started playing defense only as a sophomore being a former TE..

There are a lot of differences between Jacas and White. Jacas is a student of the game. Jacas is always looking a film of other guys to add to his moves whereas White was a one-trick pony and had the attitude of "I'm gonna do it my way" and results be damned. Jacas also studies film of the O-line and TE he's going to be facing to see how best to set them up to be beat repeatedly..

One of the things that James Foster pointed out was that Jacas doesn't just use speed or just use power to beat people. He uses both and has inside moves as well.

I will admit that I was high on White, but I can also admit I didn't do enough research on him. I also didn't do enough research on him during the draft process.

DaBruinz, I agree with all the above, and I'm hopeful. But I'm still a bit cautious based on having been burned.

I really want to see Jacas sign his contract and get on the field.

White had 1.5 sacks, 4 hits and 17 hurries on 259 pass rushing snaps with the 49ers.. That's a pressure every 11.5 pass rushing snaps. That's pretty decent considering he didn't have the benefit of TC and such with the 49ers.

I'm not writing him off, but when White was drafted, he was envisioned as a guy who could drop down to 275 and be like Willie McGinest. He's gone the other way and is listed at 290 by the 49ers. He's more of a 4-3 DE now. As mentioned, also, White had the attitude that he was going to play the game his way. He was more of a bull-rusher than he was a guy with multiple moves that could beat OTs in a variety of ways. I wish him luck and am disappointed it didn't work out. But I've moved on to a guy who has a much different and better attitude.

They're just haggling over the guaranteed money, I suspect. I don't doubt that a deal will get done in short order.

I am clearly in the minority on this, but there is something about Jacas sobbing "I'm going to give you everything I got on day 1" and then actually spending day 1 standing on the sideline watching rookie minicamp that rubs me the wrong way. Not having a contract in place didn't stop Caleb Lomu from participating.

The sooner Jacas is signed and on the field, won't be soon enough for me.

#54 pick Eli Stowers just signed with Philly.

The only thing to keep in mind is that we don't know if Jacas is 100% yet. Yes, he tested at his Pro-Day, but he didn't do everything.
He may still be rehabbing the injury. We don't know.

That being said, yes, I agree that the sooner the likes of Jacas and Lomu are signed, the better.
