Someone also mentioned earlier in the year when someone was offsides on a critical play and there was a big uproar about the refs not calling it, so maybe the NFL pressured the refs into calling it without a warning.

Forget everything else you typed for a moment...

The only reason this was a "critical play" was the result of the play itself, the interception.

The line judge who called the neutral zone infraction undoubtedly called it BEFORE he/she knew the result of the play, right?

OT: Speaking of Flutie, I remember a play he made in a BC game vs Clemson. As Flutie released a pass one of the Clemson lineman kept bearing in on him to give him a late hit. Flutie took a quick step to the right and as the lineman went by Flutie grabbed the front of his jersey and spun him around like a rag doll and slammed him into the ground. I think it might have been William Perry but I can't find anything on it.

What galls me are the people saying the "lined up in the neutral zone" penalty shouldn't have been called. Say what now? Now refs aren't supposed to call penalties that are actually penalties, which are called all the time, and which are actually occurring? How did that dumbass Dee Ford not see that he was lined up with the ball (or maybe he wanted to get a jump at Brady and his head coach and Polian told him to go ahead - it's a championship game - they won't call an obvious penalty)?

What Polian really means is, "we all hate the Patriots, they would have lost if there was no penalty there (courtesy of the INT) and the refs should have looked the other way."

The EXACT same thing, by the way, that everyone is crying about that DID happen in the Saints game and theoretically changed the outcome of that game, for which people are calling for a replay of the game, sweeping rule changes in the off-season and other absolutely needed fixes.

Thank God he threw the flag at the snap and not after the INT.

Polian is a joke same as Kellerman If Chiefs got the ball on the muffed punt, they would've had the ball at the 28 yard line, instead they got the ball at the 23 yard line 44 seconds later after the INT.

And they failed to call one that did exist (dpi on Caldwell that would have iced the game. As egregious as the one Sunday)
