July 26 is the first open training camp practice of 2018, so its' time to take a look back at a great 2017 and look ahead to (yet another) great season of Patriots football. No better way than to get ready than to share a highlight video or two. If you have a favorite, drop it in this thread.

Speaking of focus, Crossen is doing his best to prepare himself for camp. Love the attitude!

Pats rookie CB Keion Crossen putting in the summer work
Man, would it be great to see one of Crossen or Jackson step up and show something. I’m still not fully convinced that both McCourty and Rowe make this team as CBs. It just feels like one of those situations where we’re making assumptions based on past performances, and neither one of them has a dead cap hit, IIRC.

Of course, keeping one or both of the rookies on the PS would be fine too.

I think you're right here, but I also have a strange feeling that JMac will step his game up/gain the reputation of a top corner due to good chemistry with the secondary and higher visibility on the Patriots. He could be our Andre Carter at CB for a year or two.

agreed.

There is no reason for a rookie to make the 53 unless one is a top special teamer.

Are you talking in general? Or just in the case of this particular position this year? Or was there sarcasm that I didn't pick up on (always a danger with me)?

Well, I’m not sure that I’d go quite that far but I agree with the idea that we can continue to develop certain low level players on the practice squad.

I was speaking in terms of defensive back. Obviously, we will have rookies drafted in the first 4 rounds that make the 53, who may or may not play special teams.

I'd like a rookie LB or 2 with decent ST skills and attitude to make the team. After Van Noy & High it's JAG or worse.
Or maybe a summer FA pickup. Usually those crap out but every now & then...
