Seeing how some of these teams are going after aging vets like the Broncos.

I can see the trend continue with the Pats and have BB go after 3rd year players. The reason why I like this is that it can be a supplement to the draft.

Here are some players to keep an eye on.

CB -
Blidi Wreh-Wilson
Pierre Desir
Marcus Cooper
Johnthan Banks
Darius Slay (not likely)

What are some other 3rd year players that could be options from other positions?

I still like Byron Bell of the Titans as a UTR OL: affordable contract, big, pretty nimble, can play G or T.

Bled Wren-Wilson should be better than he is. I don't get him. He has size, speed, but not so sure about his quickness.

Homer analysis:

-If BB trades for a CB today, win
-IF BB doesn't trade for a CB today, he has confidence in Butler/Ryan/Coleman, win

not necessarily. the asking price for a CB might be too high. in this scenario it's a lose because BB sees the need for a corner and couldn't land one.

Darius Slay would be nice. I wish the lions had beaten the chiefs. We would be talking about sean smith being here.

Unfortunately, however, he's about as good as Bradley Fletcher. Maybe even worse!

The Thomas idea makes no sense to me, both tackles ( Solder/Vollmet) are under contract and neither is a good candidate to move inside next season

Yup. Don't get it. I am ok with our offensive line. They will get healthy. I worry about our secondary

Damn. I'll be anxiously checking this forum for the next seven hours during work. Probably to be disappointed when 4:00 hits. #unhealthyobsession

Not to mention how pressed we are against the cap. How would we afford him right now?

The article also mentions Thomas' first round asking price, although one can assume a second may work.

About the Joe Thomas thing

"One high-level source with neither the Browns or Patriots guessed that Thomas could be sent to New England," Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio noted. "But that was an uninformed dart throw, not a statement reflecting any inside information."

joe thomas to NE would mean either solder or vollmer gets dealt next year. getting thomas would keep him away from denver. also denver's strength is their outside pass rushers who clobbered green bay's tackles. belichik has to strengthen that o-line.

Any clues how we would free up that much money?

We'd need approximately 2 more million dollars when planning for incentives and the slightest bit of wiggle room for any in season injuries, etc.

They'd probably want to free up more than that. I'd guess that they'd want a million or so in reserve.

The Patriots don't make trades to keep players away from other teams, they make trades because they make sense for them and are good value. I think they expect Cannon back soon and will be adding Stork as well so I doubt they go OL at all.

Can't get muddled down in facts Sup--it's fantasy day here on the board. Time to dream about a shiny new OT1 or CB1 before uncle Bill brings us an unknown CB5, LB6 or maybe even S12.
