My take: it’s not a good thing to have a strong coaching tree and BB knows it. Why would you want to create your next competitors who also pilfer your staff.
It’s well documented that BB gives people well defined roles and compartmentalizes the HC job so his assistants don’t get to learn the...
Did anyone point out that we are up against the cap? So this is a cap dump of an expensive player in a still stocked Secondary.
all the talk about tanking and hair pulling is off base. We need cap room.
the Thuney franchise tag needs to get worked out soon into a trade or long term deal...
guys, they just celebrated wildly on the field during the trophy ceremony for about 30 mins. now they have come back into the locker room. the adrenaline has worn off. no big deal
Do you believe that QB is the most important role in sports?
The past couple years have highlighted to me that a QB can make a coach look brilliant. Or horrendous.
1. Jimmy G to SF, obviously
2. Deshaun Watson in Houston. Once he went down Texans look terrible again.
3. Denver, after the...
The point of view expressed in this thread is the biggest case of arrogance ever posted here. Thats just a football fact.
But seriously dude, its 51/49% either way... there's a case for calling the TO, there's a case for keeping the pressure. He went with his gut, and it worked out. The whole...
This is an awesome thread, and very cool idea.
Probably won't ever happen, just too many variables and egos as others have said.
But I love the theory, and don't give it 0% probability
Thanks for writing it up!
If the Steelers beat the Dolphins in the Steel City, we get the winner of a seemingly trash game between injured Oakland and injured Houston. That could almost guarantee another Second Christmas -- an AFCCG at Gillette.
Would be the 6th for me in section 239!
What do you think about the...
...well its points against, at 15.2 points per game. Top in the AFC and 2nd in NFL, behind only the Vikes.
So while we all angst about the D, they are doing their usual thing of giving up yards but few points, esp in the 2nd half. And of course have tons of room for improvement as the season...
I don't think everyone is remembering clearly. He gave his mentor BB a big FU as soon as he got a sniff of an HC opportunity. BB counseled him to not take Jets in the division. The Rat started poaching assistants and coaches right away. He was trying to steal the playbook. He basically did...
How Happy? Niners fire Rat-gini.
Niners fire DC Eric Mangini, offer Curtis Modkins OC job - NFL.com
Good times, and a nice tail wind heading into AFCCG
-> Fritz
1. Clearly BB is a special coach who may never come along again. His 15 year record is unprecedented. We are on the verge of ANOTHER HFA throughout the playoffs.
2. Most owners give up and change the systems too fast. It's a huge advantage for us, since they go back to starting over in 3-4...
If you will remember, Bostic is the leverage for Mayo to take another pay cut next year.
This year, he plays STs and gets in there once in awhile. But he is young, proven, and if they end up playing him a lot next year, is expected to raise his level of play and turn into another Patriot smart...
Slater said - "We want to kick off in that direction"
It's a classic mistake, has happened before in NFL lore.
He should have said - we want to defend that end zone, in trying to pick a direction.
Really bad for a Pats captain, sorry.
this was a critical play, you are right. losing 4 yards was a huge swing....
honestly, I was screaming at the TV set on the play before, when White didnt get into the end zone. Looked weak to get knocked down like that so close. But thats his MO, he goes down right away on contact.
if he...
What exactly are the specific roles of the DTs, beyond Easley on third down? Brown, Branch, Hicks, Silinga - they are seem similar to me as cloggers in the middle. Is it just about keeping them fresh and having super depth? Or is there more nuance here, which I would love to appreciate?
