"DE" Weakest Link

are the injury and contract connected? will he not sign until he can pass a physical?
I think they are connected, because the emerging point of contention for players picked in the second round has become the amount of guaranteed money.

It seems to me that Jacas wants a big guarantee, as is becoming the norm for second round picks, and likely the team is reluctant to give a big guarantee while there is a medical issue hanging over him.

So it’s really NBD, just the usual business of contract negotiations.

Just think, if they were better at it they’d be political pundits.
"political pundits"
An Oxymoron if ever I've seen one.
But the politicians they cover are even stupider.

I disagree, assuming he has worked really hard this offseason, based on his athleticism and tools he is going to become a star in this league. He is hyper athletic, has the prerequisite size and he put some really good plays on tape last year in limited snaps. His coach says he is quiet and smart... that's enough for me. I could be wrong, but I'm betting on the kid.
I’ve just seen these type of scenarios enough to where I’m not counting on him to do it and want other reinforcements brought in.

I hope he proves me wrong. The odds just stack against him being more than a rotational depth piece.

I anticipate him being a stud. He only needed to get stronger as a rookie, a year in the weight program should be the answer. He’s a thoroughbred, a dynamic athlete. Beating Swinson out for a roster spot last year tells me his head is screwed on right. We’ll see…

Yes, and to fully embrace that viewpoint is so counter cultural to NE sports. I'm in Mass for a few weeks now and every now and then make the mistake of listening to the talk radio jocks, and wow, that lemonade into spoiled lemons capability is staggering. What a way to make a living.

Couldn't agree more. They are raw sewage.

Not a great look for Jacas, presumably with a surprise medical issue AND to be holding out.

Don't let anyone see that. I've got a bold prediction cooking up which posters are going to freak out over.
Rain,

Keep an eye on Carl Davis really believe he brought something to the Defensive line last year and his snap count increased as the season wore on really believe he's a disruptive force and with farmer coming on in year 2 we could be talking about an really good defensive line group.

From what Vrabel has mentioned he's aware and not upset at all.. however I'm sure he's frustrated. Hopefully G. Jacas can get signed and be ready for camp.

From recent news he’s “holding out” because the team is holding out on giving him the contractual protection given to most players.

I see a difference between protecting himself and seeking an advantage, with this being the former. YMMV.

Are you saying the Patriots are low balling his offer vs the typical negotiation regarding guaranteed salary?

No. Reiss reported he was not given the standard participation agreement that if he is hurt in team activities before he is under contract he’ll still get a contract.

I took that to mean Jacas was trying to get standard guarantee while also hiding a “cleanup procedure” from team which likely would cause them to insert “pre-existing issue” clause .

Not a good way to start your NFL career if, in fact, he tried to hide it.

I think he'll be fine, because there hasn't been anything saying otherwise.
Jacas is important for us, he'll be there IMO.

Where is the evidence that “he tried to hide it”?

I’ve seen lots of speculation and inference. I’ve seen no reporting based on anything more solid than inference from things like Vrabel not answering questions. That’s really flimsy for such a strong assertion. So if you have seen something more substantial please point me at it so I can see for myself. Otherwise what you posted is just pure innuendo. Thanks!

He didn't.
This is classic Kraft is Cheap.

Link to Reiss’s actual article. Kind of vague you are right, BUT what surprised me was that outsiders flagged a torn labrum, stress fracture in his foot, and the “knee cleanup” in question. What Reiss wrote left the door open that the knee wasn’t a known issue.

To me, labrum, foot, knee = “we aren’t paying you fully of you miss time for those. “ I assumed that was standard for rookies with medical issues.
