NFL News OT: Browns trade DE Myles Garrett to Rams

Share the latest NFL news from around the league here.
The Rams burned through seven years of first round picks, other picks, players and loaded up on cap debt… result = one ring.

I guess this is a team building strategy…

The Jets have drafted 15 first rd picks in that same time frame including 5 top 5 picks.

I know which team I would rather root for.

Imagine if the Rams were as well GM’d as they are coached…. the Jests have neither.

Apparently they are well GM. In 10 years they have been to 2 superbowls, won 1, and have been to the NFC championship game 3 times.

What NE did with Brady and Belichick was special and has seemed to ruin fans expectations in NE.

Going to the AFC Championship game every year is un realistic expectations.

If the Pats manage to win 1 superbowl and make another AFC championship game in the next 9 years that would be an extremely successful 10 year period.

There are 32 teams. And there are still 12 teams that have never won a superbowl.

Verse, fwiw, is from Ohio
Browns building quite a talented and young team
I am not writing off Watson at Qb quite yet
Neither are the Browns apparently, at least not yet. There is also a segment of the fans that actually want to see him play. I wouldn’t expect much, though.

49ers gonna counter this Myles Garrett trade by selecting a running back in the 3rd-round in 2027 that everyone agrees was gonna go undrafted.
No doubt, saw Nike sitting in their draft room and was wondering if Lynch and Kyle were dog sitting that weekend.

It's so funny you say that because my 49ers friend always talks about how they have the best stable of backs in the NFL and I'm like "uh huh".

Won't happen. Eli Manning was just on a podcast and revealed the Browns had a trade in place with SD to trade for him on draft day. Manning rejected it and that's when the NYG showed up.
Just because his uncle did something over 20 years ago doesn’t mean he’s going to.

Barring injury, he’s the first pick in the draft. Whom that team will be remains to be seen but IMHO, right now your leading contenders are Arizona, Cleveland and Miami.

Drafting Ty Simpson this season when they're clearly going all in at the end of Stafford's window was a weird move. Would have assumed they would have drafted a guy who could hypothetically contribute day one like Bain, Sadiq, or Mekai Lemon.

Not to mention he sucks.

Breer and a few others have mentioned that having a succession plan for Stafford in place allowed them to feel comfortable to trade other picks for Garrett.

I get that but they likely have 1 or two more years of Stafford and most of the big names will likely be cut/traded/retiring by that point. Garrett, Davante Adams, and most of their O-line will be gone or at the end of the line by the time Simpson starts.

Probably, but they seem to feel they have the hardest piece to acquire, a QB for the future. They don’t seem to care much about first round picks and draft well late, so I’m sure they plan on continuing that M.O.
