2027 Watch List

There are 7 linebackers I would draft tomorrow as future starters for the Pats

Round One/top 50

These three are obvious (not in order)

Chris Cole
KVA
Sammy Brown

Day Two

MIKE

Ray Coney
Whit Weeks

WILL

Ben Roberts
Raylen Wilson

Beyond that, people like Sammy Omosigho, Arion Carter and Tony Rojas and others are more wait and see prospects.

Jaylen McClain, Safety, Ohio State
6-0, 201

Very strong 2025 grades.

Run defense - 77.6
Tackling - 87.0 (6.9% missed tackle rate)
Coverage - 77.1

I have a very simple rule. don't discount anyone from Ohio State.

McClain plays with free safety range and gets up in run support in a hurry. He'd compliment Woodson very well. The knock on him is ball production. Zero interceptions and only 2 PBUs. Both will need to improve for him to get strong draft attention.

We're not in the market, hoping they all go 1st round.

Much as I like Charlie Becker, I do not want to be spending a day 1 or 2 pick on WR before 2029.
I think this comes down to whether Kyle Williams finds his feet this year. If he does, I'm 100% in agreement. If he doesn't, I'm not opposed to making a strength a bigger strength. Plus, you have a ready made replacement in place for Brown when he finishes.

I'm team defense in the first this year, but Becker, in the above scenario, and the two TEs are exemptions I'm willing to consider.

And Jordan Seaton. Gotta go OT again.

I'm all defense. Almost.
It all comes down to BPA. If we’ve signed a CB2 in FA, you can pick up a linebacker and safety on day 2 and Echols, Bolden and Cole are off the board, I’d definitely consider one of those offensive players (not Seaton though).

International Pragmatism at its finest.

Right now my first round list for the Pats probably looks something like:

[1. Leonard Moore]
[2. Jeremiah Smith]
[3. Colin Simmons]
[4. Dylan Stewart]
[5. Jordan Seaton]
6. Chris Cole
7. Jamari Johnson
8. Ellis Robinson IV
9. Will Echoles
10. A'Mauri Washington
11. David Stone
12. Kyngstonn Viliamu-asa
13. Sammy Brown
14. Charlie Becker
15. KJ Bolden
16. Yhonzae Pierre
17. Ahmad Moten
18. Trey'Dez Green
19. Zabien Brown
20. Kelley Jones

[ ] indicates likely to go top 10

Some new guys will undoubtedly emerge, but those would all be strong additions.
