Lomu

I wonder what current and former NFL players would say would be a more difficult move for an LT....

- moving from LT to LG
- moving from LT to RT

I doubt there is a single answer for everyone.

Penei Sewell and Tristan Wirfs switched sides seamlessly. Others struggled.

Guard generally requires covering less space, but reacting more quickly. Marcus Cannon couldn't react quickly enough.

The Dolphins are moving Kadyn Proctor to LG. We'll see how that goes.

Light has commented on the differences between playing LT and RT. He's flat out said that some can do it and some can't. He admitted to being one of the ones who couldn't. As we know, Sebastian Vollmer was one of the ones who COULD. Nate Solder spent time at both LT and RT for the Pats.

We know that Vederian Lowe played LT all through HS, College, and his time with the Vikings. The Pats tried him at RT and it was disastrous.

Good stuff thanks. I guess I should have phrased my question differently because per usual I was not clear...

- according to current and previous players in the NFL....which is a more difficult task: going from LT to LG or LT to RT.

I'll take the answer offline...thank you

The sort of stuff his coaches mention are exactly the things that get you excited about a player.

- He knows he's not perfect and always looking to improve.
- Transitioning to the right side will take some time, but, he's has taken snaps there and should be able to do it.

Giving up 125 hurts moving up from 63 though. At this point, Im hoping for edge and TE with the next 2 picks.
You did get your wish. Are you happy with the draft?

Anonymous feedback on Caleb Lomu, as reported by Mike Giardi:

“I think he’s the cleanest pass protector in the tackle class. Damn good feet, balance, rarely gets out over his skis,” said a line coach I spoke with.

“I don’t know what their plans are, but if you told me Lomu eventually unseats (Will) Campbell, I wouldn’t bat an eye,” a scout texted. “Campbell’s nastiness could serve him well inside or even on the other side at right tackle.”

“He (Lomu) allowed zero sacks last year,” added another scout. “I don’t care where you play, that’s hard to do. And he played good competition, which just adds to his profile.

“Does he need to develop more as a run blocker? Absolutely. Little too much leaning on the defender and not enough displacement. They’ve gotta work on his hands. He’s gotta keep firing them when he gets to the second level.”

“Everyone knows he needs to get stronger. That’s not just specific to him. That’s almost all these guys,” pointed out an exec. “But he’s an impressive kid. Someone that size with those movement skills…they don’t grow on trees. In this draft, getting that level of talent at that stage in the round shows good process by (Eliot) Wolf.”

I am. Obviously its heavily slanted towards the first 3 rounds. Jacas and Raridon was great on Day 2. The way the TE run went, I think the Patriots were very fortunate Raridon was there at 95.

Day 3 is always a crapshoot. Crownover could be a steal but a lot of picks late in a weak draft. Im not going to get hung up on that to determine how much I liked the draft.

The Patriots didnt have enough draft capital to win the draft, but I thought it was a good, solid draft. Maybe only one guy(Jacas) makes a true impact this year without an injury, but Lomu and Raridon can step up if called upon. Hopefully starters in '27.

I swear that the Dolphins stole my draft info and used it.. j/k... sorta..

They took a multitude of players that I was hoping the Pats would draft. Such as Rodriguez, Kacmarek, and Louis. I thought taking Kacmarek in the 3rd was a bit of a reach, but he was the best blocking TE in the draft and he can catch the ball pretty well, though Ohio St didn't use him that way enough.

I'm sure that will change with OTAs. But hopefully Lomu will get reps all over, and get some opportunity to show what he can do.
