Cool Link VIDEO: Efton Chism Getting After It

I don’t see Westover making this team again.
Quite possible he won’t. Likely ps if he’s still here at all.
I don’t think they have any desperate needs, but with Henry’s age and unknown behind him, it’s as big a need as they have.
I think they have several needs that are closer to being desperate than TE.

LT2. Edge. ILB. RTotf. CB5.

jk about CB5, maybe. That one is a toss up with TEotf, imnsho.

I’d put OT, TE, WR, CB, Edge, LB in the same category of need. I’d prioritize them in that order though because tackles and big athletic guys are harder to find or less plentiful than smaller guys.

But there is an element of best player available here, and I haven’t done a deep dive on this draft class but there seems to be a lot of good TE’s in this class. The team has needs, but they have starters at every position. They need future starters and depth for now, they can afford to take talented but raw guys who need development.

To me this is the most important thing to consider.

A year ago this team was viewed as a doormat, one of the weakest teams in the league, with holes all over the roster.

In one year we’ve progressed to where the roster is viewed as having “starters at every position”, just needing depth and future starters.

That’s why Vrabel won COTY. It also suggests that if he does as well this year a lot of the depth needs will be successfully filled, and there will be a pipeline ready to deliver replacement starters when future needs develop. In another year we should have a really solid team, just in time to deal with the new challenges of big contracts for the stars we have made. That’s a good problem to have.

After the draft and remaining free agency this was a playoff team last year. This year prior to the draft they’re a playoff team… assuming health.

They’re better this time, the draft could put them over the top. Draft well…

4 WR's, 2 RB's and 1-2 TE's makes 7-8. There are and should be few receptions for the 4th or 5th WR in this Offense.

That's not the reason 5-6 WRs are kept on a 53.

The 3rd or 4th round seems a reasonable place to find the replacement for Henry.

If a DE is taken at 31, then a freak Move TE like Eli Stowers makes a lot of sense at 63 because there won't be an OT worthy of selection there...
