NFL under investigation by Justice Department

It wasn't a defense, just a statement of fact.
They're the Wal-Mart version of The Onion, with similar-quality writers and editors you'd expect from that moniker.
Ok so your saying the site is intentionally satirical in nature...I did not know that

I'm not a stickler as much as Thelonius but are these people calling themselves Journalist? It should read...

"The NFL has announced Each Quarter Of Playoff Games Will Be Broadcast On Different Streaming Services"...or something like that
I've always thought that the NFL would go Pay Per View like boxing. They could assemble Patriots packages where you see every game for a handsome price.

I paid for the NFL ticket last season and already had Prime and still could not watch every Pats game. This season the Pats should be featured in quite a few prime time games which might be free.

I may go back to the Sports bar for 2026. It's not a bad time and other games are on so it's easier to stay abreast of current NFL atmosphere and not solely focused on NE.

You're not paying attention if you don't understand that all this is is a certain orangutan shaking down the NFL for a payout.
Several Congressmen - on both sides of the aisle - have made comments about this situation. It is an issue which has organically come to a head due to the greed of the various sports leagues.

And yet only the President is going to get a nice little payout for his "blessing" to allow the NFL to continue raping the customers.

Just like the sweetheart deal with Ticketmaster and live nation that his doj just approved after the last administration finally tried to out a stop to that ****.

There's no chance this so called investigation is going to lead to a cheaper product for you and me.

Never forget petty revenge against the NFL. They humiliated him in court over the USFL.

I don't like the guy but if he ****ed the NFL and their never ending bloodlust drive to maximize profits through media rights I ain't gonna complain.

Payout or payback?

Exactly. The best payoff will be to get a payout as payback.

The nfl will just buy some if the trump crypto and this will all go away. All hail our overlords.

Part of me says just let the NFL go do what they want. If fans can't afford all the streaming fees, then people won't watch and the NFL learns their lesson and just hurts themselves anyway
Part of me - the libertarian/anarchocapitalist part - agrees with you. On the other hand, if an entity is granted certain prerogatives and dispensations in light of an expectation that exercise of those prerogatives will benefit the greater society - the only reasonable sort of rationale for such special status - and those prerogatives are then abused to the detriment of that greater society, there is a sound case to be made that those special prerogatives should be withdrawn, since the contract, so to say - the trust - implicit in the arrangement has been broken.

Your response I guess means you're defending the bastardization of the english language? The Onion by far at least knows grammar and punctuation.
LOL. "Stickler" here. You really should capitalize "English."

I know: I'm sort of an *******. (Maybe in my case, "*******" should be capitalized?)

A fair settlemeny might be to put a cap on number of individual games that are streamed on add on premium channels per year in return for extension of anti trust exemption

OR

Goodell goes to prison for 10 years

Well that would be unwise because this is a long term problem. Your imaginary payoff won't solve the issue.

I think having a PPV playoff game is a bridge too far. The NFL can't hide behind "hey if we played it on Sunday afternoon it would have just been an out of town game you would have missed anyway" like they do for the Amazon Thursday night package.

QUESTION THAT WOULD BE ASKED IN A HEARING
1) How many, and what percentage of home team games are available in the local market on free TV?
2) How many non-local-team games are available in local markets and what are the costs for various games?
Witness, please answer these questions for 1986, 1996, 2006, 2016 and 2026. Please inflation-adjust any costs.

Well, based on the facts, it is clear that the NFL is the only monopoly that Trump DOESN'T like, so obviously the matter is personal to him. I find myself feeling more than a little uncomfortable agreeing with Putin's Puppet on this issue. The NFL's arrogant drive to extract every last dollar from the equally greedy media outlets is verging on the obscene, with the only saving grace is that salaries for the players have exploded for its players over the last 10 years.

"Based on the facts..." This post shows far less familiarity with the facts than with predictable, meme-driven leftist pantytwisting. Gosh though, thanks for sharing your "feelings."
