Patriots Rumor Tracker / FA Signings (Updated: Signings in OP - 4/7)

Titans, Jets, Cardinals are all last resorts. Munford is not getting much love around the league, like Gibbons.
Nope. And we need no injury protection or competition.

We have Bryant and whoever we draft to count on.

Mayo was HC and the NE front office took Baker and Polk in lieu of Mckonnky.

Wolf taking a swipe at BB is comical when the Pats had no QB. Vrabel was so lucky in 2025 and fans are expecting 2026 to be the same.
I don't really think it was a shot at BB. Its fair to call things out and as fans we saw the dysfunction. One could say that us not having a QB was BB's issue because Mac showed he could be serviceable in a Brock Purdy kind of way. When the head coach actually stops talking to a player that is a coach issue. He was the HC of the team not just the players he liked.

Record wise we will take a step back, but I think the team as a whole will play better. Not sure why you say he got lucky other than the schedule

Wolf is a gutless, sweater-wearing weenie. "We". How about, "I was a ****ing lost little girl until Vrabel showed up. Now I just giggle a lot in the background."

My apologies, I've clearly been slacking a bit. OP has been updated with the additional offseason moves.

I do wonder, based on Wolf's comments, if having a head coach who actually articulated a plan for each of the positions they were looking for was part of the reason for the turnaround last spring. It's one thing to evaluate and draft a player based on their talent at a position. It's also another factor to consider the scheme they're going to be running, and making sure that the player is a fit for it.

Wolf sort of indicated that there wasn't quite the same sort of direction with Mayo, which feels like they drafted several square pegs after the coaching staff seemed like they were adjusting on the fly and didn't really have a sense of what they were going to do. If I recall, I think they tried one scheme and then had to change direction.

Vrabel obviously had a plan from the time he got here, and having Josh and a more experienced staff, I'm sure, also helped. However, I do think their vision was clouded on Polk in 2024 due to the relationship with the guys in Washington, rather than his overall skill set relative to other players. Feels like the same situation that we saw in the past with players being drafted based on praise from a coach/coaches the staff had a relationship with. I might be wrong, but I don't remember too many of those working out.

I think they trusted a little too much in those relationships in that decision, and that swing-and-miss is disappointing. But it feels like having more of a plan played a big role last offseason. Hopefully, they can repeat that success this month because they definitely need it. It is interesting that, as we've seen, it feels like Vrabel has no issue moving on from guys, including on his staff, that he doesn't believe are good enough. We saw that this offseason. I'm sure if Wolf isn't pulling his weight, he won't continue.

Go. Get. This. Guy.

This is the missing piece to the DT rotation. This takes the defense to another level.

This makes the rounds each year, but I really wish it included the number of pass rushes from the NT alignment. In obvious pass situations, teams often just leave the center completely uncovered and put two interior rushers both outside the guards. There's obviously not going to be pressure from a nose tackle alignment if there's no player at a nose tackle alignment.

Not exactly what you were looking for but he has a 32% run stop win rate (which ranks among the top half of the NFL) since entering the league - so not bad but not someone to pay top 3 money to

But I guess he's not happy with this $40 mil over the next two seasons and wants another signing bonus/extension

While the Giants have an "out" this year with a $13 mil cap hit to get out of the $27 mil cap hit each of the next two years, given how thin they are seems like maybe they extend him a year to reduce the cap hit

While I'd take him for $20 mil a year straight up, no sense in trading for him if you're not going to make him happy by extending him - and I'd rather not give up a pick for him, not that I think the Giants will trade him

"He's super, super important. He's a cornerstone football player -- not really a cornerstone, more like the middle stone," new Giants coach John Harbaugh said at the combine in March. "He's right in the middle. He's a very big stone, and he's a very active, athletic one."

I'm really glad that wolfe doesn't have as much say so in the actual decision making process. He greatly benefits from his dad's name. The mcconkey pick had to be the last brainfart he and belichick worked on.

That was on Mayo and Wolf, not Belichick. And Wolf absolutely has to own the 24' draft, as he had final say. However he doesn't own the Belichick draft's, as Belichick had final say on everything.

Barmore would have to be thrown in a minimum so they wouldn't have to give up higher draft capital. Regardless, I could see Barmore dangled in a draft day trade.

They're not going to just let go of a very active athletic cornerstone right in the middle.
