I'm Confused About Posting In Some Threads While Avoiding Any Political content.

Should I start dropping the link to posters because the mod agreed with me? I wanna help people.

It is your site, @Ian .

Personally, I’d allow a political forum with no moderation except for seriously illegal stuff. We all have the ability to ignore/block anyone on here.

But that is just me.
One person actually threatened to sue Ian over the political forum, so yeah, I’m with him, although I enjoyed it, much like the dinosaurs, it doesn’t need to come back.

Well, I'm the closest thing to ************ around here so I must try and I can prove it:
1. I can drink wine like its water
2. There but for the grace of God go I

Thank you.

This is, and always has been, a sports forum. There is no room for petty bickering (which I have often read) and politics. there are apropriate forums for this.
Yup, I come here for NFL and specifically Pats related content. A home away from home so to speak.

Honestly I do have to speak up about one thing. All you Sardautards were pissing in your inefficient imperial stillsuits about how terrible Baron Vladimir Harkonnen was, not to mention Beast Rabban and Feyd Rautha. You were all so boo Hoo Hoo about a couple of shadout mapes being bent out of shape about wasting water and all “what we need is some House Atreides up in here." Wahhh, Feyd gets drugged enemies to publicly gut in an arena. Wahhh, the Fremen get treated soooo badly. You happy now that your precious Quisinart Habberdasher or whatever tf you call him has opened up a can of Jihad against the whole galaxy? The cost of spice was already through the roof and he made that worse too. His kid’s worse, wants to be a sandworm so he can rule repressively for 3000 years to teach people to resist him or some sh**, and between him and his sister, she’s the one they call an abomination.

Wah, House Harkonnen is sooo mean. F’in Atreides.

Yes, a wonderful home for us being provided by the most dedicated owner of a web site.

That being said, it is a home is like so many others over the decades and centuries. We must be very careful of what we say that relate to certain subjects.

For example, I think it is out of line to discuss how Henderson's comments have affected his relationship to his teammates, his future in New England, and his future earnings in the league, and even how high we should draft a RB.

I venture to say that the majority of NFL players side with Henderson, but that they just don't express it because the woke mob will descend from most high and cause a crap storm.

Very sad times we find ourselves in.

You, literally 2 posts before this one (Or as the kids would say, "This you?"):

So you're a Welsher AND a hypocrite. As to be expected from the ****kicker who gets all their news from facebook, I suppose.

So yeah, we're ****in cooked as a society for a while when it comes to discussing politics as a hobby

I miss the days when politics was about good governance.

Now it's so much about the personalities of the politicians.

As a geezer, to me the turning point was in the 1980s or so when CNN started doing Crossfire.

Before that it was what we would now call "policy wonks" having civil discussions.

Once it became a shouting match, it was more about entertainment than anything else.

I'm pretty amazed how some pretty smart people I know are so absorbed by the behavior of some of the stupidest people in our society.

I have no idea why they find such people so engaging, entertaining, or whatever it is that makes them even bother to know who they are.

Yep. I have a cousin that had to cut off one of his cousins on the other side of his family because it got so extreme how furious she would get to a simple, tame joke he would post on Facebook. Anything political topic went off the rails rapidly. He finally told her she was family, he loved her, but it was best they don't interact anymore, and blocked her online. (She lives on the other side of the country so it wasn't like they had to avoid each other in person)

IDK, I think pretty much all of us to have lost a relationship with a relative or a close friend because of politics.

It's another reason why I don't pay attention to the talking heads.

I hear you, but as I’ve said, I’ve already been down that road. I’ve done both previously over the course of the last 25yrs, and they were disasters. So we’re not doing any political threads/forums.
There are other places to do that. I dint go to a restaurant to get my car washed, for example.

Politics has become Pick a side then argue against everything the other side believes and call them horrible people for believing it. There is no debate, no middle ground.

The fundamental issue is that some people have "political" views that promote taking rights away from others based on their race, sexual orientation, etc and some even hold "political" views that dehumanize certain groups of people. Then there are those who push their religious beliefs as if they are political beliefs, which they aren't. Religious belief is completely irrelevant to government action.

Because of this - the fact that many people are racist, homophobic, xenophobic assholes - means that they will eventually post their idiocy and hatred and will then be - extremely rightfully - personally attacked.

So yeah, that's why we can't have a political forum and that's why American society is headed for dystopia: Some people - even people you interact with every day - are scumbags and don't deserve to have their stupid ass opinions considered. They only deserve ostracization. But you can't run a forum if stupid people are allowed to voice their crappy views with impunity, which is essentially what any political forum would have to be.

No. Politics has become objectively horrible people saying objectively horrible things and then *****ing about it when other people rightfully call them out on their nonsense.

The NFL has decided to make itself political and push leftwing political messages. So it's just going to make it's way here to football forums. From kneeling for the anthem/American flag, woke halftime shows, to BLM and lgbtq promotion. The NFL puts this stuff on social media, jerseys and messaging on the field itself.
The NFL promotes "Don't be a douchebag" messages. Not even because they necessarily believe in them (plenty of the people running the NFL are douchebags), but because they're popular. Why are they popular? Because most people don't want to be douchebags and don't like douchebags.

So, in short, if you have a problem with the promotion of the idea that we shouldn't be douchebags, then yeah, I can see why you would have a problem with the NFL pushing that message.

But maybe douchebags are good?
