Patriots Rumor A.J. Brown trade rumors heat up - Should Patriots get him?

A report indicating the Patriots are potentially in the market for this player, or have expressed or plant to express interest.
So Howie Rosen has a highly paid, aging, underperforming WR, with injury concerns who is a negative force in his locker room.

And wants a 1st round pick from the Pats to alleviate HIS problem.

“Please don’t throw me in that briar patch Mr Vrabel.”

Mike Vrabel and Wolf too.
I think the point is you don't trade arguably the best Patriot drafted WR since Edelman for multiple reasons....one being: AJ Brown could fail as a Patriot.

Look at the Commanders. One season after playing in the NFC title game they are picking top 10.
Reversion to their norm. They also picked top 10 in the year they went to the title game.

They picked Daniels 2nd overall in 2024. Went to the NFCCG in his rookie season so everybody thought they were back. Proved otherwise in 2025.

It's called a Tougher Schedule which we will face this up coming season. The same thing happened to the Lions. What we currently have at WR won't be enough to overcome that schedule.

Not open to trading boutte, certainly not as a throw in. Hard to remember hes only 23, he’s improved every year hes been here. i think hes going to have a great 2026.

Douglas would be the one to go. Not a great fit in Josh’s offense but the ability is there, he could have success elsewhere. Just hasn’t progressed since year 1 here.

I see Boutte as on the books for this year only. IF he has has a great year possible for him; I don't think talent wise he's far off from Doubs. He ain't giving the Patriots a Hometown discount in FA 2027. My thinking goes into acquiring Brown... Boutte is not A.J. Brown or have his ceiling.

First off.
Tougher on paper yes, however every year there are teams that appear tough, and by years end it's proven far differently.
This year will be no different.

HOME
  • Buffalo Bills - Josh, enough said, they will be tough
  • Denver Broncos -Will Nix be exposed, can he play well for 4 quarters?
  • Green Bay Packers - color me unimpressed. Every year they are supposed to be something...and never are
  • Las Vegas Raiders - Terrible
  • Miami Dolphins - Extra terrible
  • Minnesota Vikings - Who's their QB?
  • New York Jets - Terrible
  • Pittsburgh Steelers - Who's their QB?
AWAY
  • Buffalo Bills - See above
  • Chicago Bears - Can Caleb progress and be a 4 quarter player, similar to Nix
  • Detroit Lions - Regress is underway
  • Kansas City Chiefs - Will Mahomes be healthy and be the old Mahomes?
  • Los Angeles Chargers - Jekyll and Hyde
  • Miami Dolphins - See above
  • New York Jets - See above
  • Seattle Seahawks - Tough
  • Jacksonville Jaguars - first half Jags or second half? TLaw?
Lots of winnable games there.

Right.

Because getting a Gonzo at #17 is a plausible possibility, while getting Brady at pick 199 is a once in several lifetimes possibility.

Apples to bowling balls analogy.
Ok, you win. Just kidding you could get Trey Lance for pick 3 which is also a plausible possibility, LOL In this case which round the picks are from is way more meaningful than this year or next year. For the record I have also heard a lot of good things about the 2027 draft class and would likely have a different opinion on this if the Pats needed a QB.

After reading about his knee, it doesn't look like the Pats are going to trade for him.

Get a WR in the draft. T, Edge and WR will be the first 3 picks.

Nix is a jag. An average qb. Always has been. Always will be.
Despite a ton of talent on team, I'm not sure Denver even makes the playoffs this year.

...and just like that...

I still think denver is tough but they are due for some bad luck this year. They won way too many one score games for a 14-3 team. Thats bound to change. And as much as people crap on our schedule theirs wasn’t much tougher

Their D is legit but so is ours.
But our offense right now is head and shoulders better.
KC has made some good moves and they'll be motivated. Chargers are still strong. Broncos could easily finish 3rd in that division.

They get a distinct home field advantage; over the last decade they have about a 10% advantage over expected just by playing in Denver. The defense and that home field advantage will keep them in the mix.
Bo Nix ankle seems like it could be prone to breaking, if he can't or won't scramble to his 2025 level his effectiveness goes way down.

Even more interesting is Opponents often underperform their season-long win percentage by 10–12% in the week immediately following a Denver trip. Teams cover the spread only 44% of the time the week after Denver.

The Bills have to go to Denver, if they don't have a bye or easy opponent the week after they may underperform that week. A schedule advantage to Pats to have Denver at NE.

Well, it didn't help that Daniels was out injured after his rookie season. Many would say, that's the way the guy plays and the Cobra Commanders need to find a way to keep him healthy.

Denver has a great chance to make it to the super bowl next season.

I get you don't think highly of Bo but the pats barely beat stidham.
