Player Signing Patriots sign CB Kindle Vildor

Is he the Alex Austin replacement?
He competes with Dial to replace Austin the last CB and STer on many units.

He could compete with Woods for reps as the #4 CB, but that seems doubtful.

A good, but very minor signing

Dial has to prove he can stay healthy... and play.

Charles Woods entering year three as an UDFA who bounced around practice squads has a lot more to prove than Vildor.

Vildor is a six year vet with a lot of snaps under his belt. He's a proven commodity on special teams and has a fair amount of defensive tape.

I like the addition. They needed depth and he's a better CB than anyone they had last season outside of the big three in Gonzalez, Davis and Jones.

Alex Austin, Charles Woods, Kobee Minor, DJ James.... I really hope they add some more CB depth and instead of adding try hard guys like these ^ I hope they focus on speed and athleticism. No more slow pokes.

The question has always been how much to pay for backups, unless they are top Sters. I think that we need a real position #4 CB who can come in and start at any time. The #5 CB is always a Ster and emergency CB (I'm OK with that).

We try to develop a starter from guys like Woods, Austin, and Dial. For me, they are extremely weak #4 CB's.

I remember this guy playing a lot for Detroit back in 23-24 ish. I think they liked him at the time. Not sure now.

He's a marked improvement over Alex Austin and the rest of the bums backing up the boundary corners last year.

I think it's more like 80/20
I agree

KEEP 2 as #4 and #5 CB
Woods
Dial
Vildor

We could even carry 6 CB'a including a STer, especially if we carry 4 safeties: Woodson, Byard, Pettus/draftee, and Schooler.

Alex Austin from 2025 to 2023:
Snaps 144,234,216
PFF: 42.2, 61.1, 62.0

Kindle Vildor from 2025 to 2023:
Snaps: 164, 316, 388
PFF: 59.3, 46.7, 49.0

Will battle UDFA and draft picks for a spot on the roster.

Alex austin was cb4 all year.
This guy's better.

Maybe. The fact that Big T knows him from DET and the system helps him.

But he is very average and if whomever they land in FA, draft, UFA beats him out hes gone.

Pros:
Killed Sauron
Good hair

Cons:
Failed to destroy the ring
I just read his bio. One plus is he's probably mature since he's married with twins.
His kindling's names are Sparky and Smokey

That's the Smokey and Sparky I know.

Just great more Automatic first downs Austin's...
Gotta love when you make a fool of yourself.

Last 3 years:
2023 - 11 completions allowed on 20 targets for 154 yards and 2 TDs , 2 Passes Defensed, 1 Forced Fumble
2024 - 11 completions allowed on 25 targets for 140 yards and 0 TDs, 3 Passes Defensed
2025 - 13 completions allowed on 22 targets for 186 yards and 3 TDs, 3 Passes Defensed, 1 Interception.

No. He's not how Alex Austin was in 2025.

You could have saved yourself looking foolish had you just looked at Pro-Football-Reference

This is clearly someone who did Terrell Williams knows from Vildor's time in Detroit.

Honestly, this seems like a camp body/gamble. You always hope to find guys that just 'put it together' once they get to your team.
This is someone that Terrell Williams knows. This isn't a "camp body/gamble". This is someone who they believe will come in and provide depth at outside corner. Is it guaranteed? No. He'll be competing with Dial and whomever else they bring in.
