Patriots Rumor Josh Sweat reportedly requested trade?

A report indicating the Patriots are potentially in the market for this player, or have expressed or plant to express interest.
Reiss mentioned it's bone-on- bone... also be mindful that this is Landry 3rd knee injury I believe of his career. If he does end up playing I see him being heavily managed.. so he won't be a high snaps guys.. as I mentioned previously we need a starter at edge opposite Dre Jones..
Landry should be fine, he’s only got one year of guaranteed money left on his contract. Ponder is probably the future at OLB, if he keeps working hard and developing.

Also not sure Jones is a starter as much as a chess piece to move about or mix and match with Williams. Jones can shift inside a little and has versatility.

The hope is he can return at some point and be a great rotational vet.. I like Ponder alot and his upside.. Jones is a starter and can rush inside and outside and is a 3 down player.. we need another starter opposite Jones.. we are deep on the defensive line.. I firmly believe it's the draft and some FA veterans we'll bring in between now and the start of camp..

We’ll see how Landry’s rehab goes, but I suspect he’ll be starting as soon as he’s healthy. He and Vrabel go way back and he gets paid a lot. Ponder and Swinson are two good young prospects, they could add one or two more in this draft class, but eventually you’ve got to dance with the one that brung you. You can only roster so many guys.

As far as Jones goes, sure he can start, I don’t think it’s important he does. He’ll get a lot of snaps either way.

We have zero clue as to the severity of Landry's knee injury...so you're going with "Landry should be fine..." Good stuff

I just won't put to much faith in that. He needs surgery then he needs recovery and rehab.. I see him on PUP until he's ready to be able to play and be effective.. I can also see a situation where he decides to retire as well.. so it's up in the air with Landry until we know for sure.

Your right he and Vrabel have a very close relationship.. so I'm sure Vrabel wants Landry to be at his best to be a factor on the field.. I full expect us to take a edge player at # 31 and then dip back in the later rounds as well as UDFA..

I'll be disappointed if Jones is not an upgrade over Chaisson. I liked him, he was better than I expected and he never quit on a play which was the quality I appreciated most. I expect a stronger bull rush from Jones in addition to the speed factor.

Agreed..Jones is an upgrade. Jones can't rush inside and outside has a sturdy frame and excellent setting the edges.. I like Chaisson and thought his market would have been like Oweh or Mafe however he settled for another one year deal at 12 million.. we definitely aren't done adding..

When did Reiss mention that?
There appears to be no record. In fact he is having surgery to repair it

Based on reporting from ESPN's Mike Reiss in February 2026,
no, he did not state that Harold Landry's knee is "bone on bone."
Reiss reported that Landry was dealing with a "lingering" knee injury sustained in Week 6 of the 2025 season against the New Orleans Saints.

  • Reiss noted that Landry hinted at needing offseason surgery to fix the issue.
  • Landry told Reiss, "I'm going to get my knee right, and we're going to get right back to it".

While Landry played through the injury and was listed as questionable frequently late in the season, the reports specifically mention a lingering injury requiring potential surgery, not that it was "bone on bone".

He’s a big upgrade.

Also he has had 1 prior knee surgery. Why do you throw stuff out there like it’s a fact when you are guessing?

Harold Landry III
has had one confirmed knee surgery in his NFL career, with a second potential procedure planned for the 2026 offseason.

Confirmed and Potential Surgeries
  • 2022 ACL Reconstruction: Landry underwent surgery to repair a torn ACL sustained during a Tennessee Titans practice on August 31, 2022. This injury caused him to miss the entire 2022 season.
  • 2026 Offseason (Hinted): Following the 2025 season with the New England Patriots, Landry hinted at needing surgery to address a lingering knee injury originally suffered in Week 6. ESPN's Mike Reiss reported that Landry stated, "I'm going to get my knee right, and we're going to get right back to it."

Injury Context
  • 2025 Season: While playing for the Patriots, Landry dealt with a persistent knee issue that limited his participation in the AFC Championship Game, though he was able to play in Super Bowl LX.

Ring,

Thank you for sharing this.. can I ask a question do you ever watch ESPN? You do know Mike Reiss is the ESPN patiots reporter and mentioned it on air on ESPN when asked about Landry and his knee injuries.

reports have mentioned similarly.

Dude seriously? You show a picture with no link that someone posted on Reddit that “they saw Scott Zolak says he heard” and that’s your evidence?
I do not believe you that Reiss said that. You have a history of misremembering what you think you heard. How about a clip?
It’s just not cool to post false info as fact because you think you heard something and back it up because someone Reddit thinks they heard someone say they heard something.

Again here is what comes up regarding Reiss comments on Landry knee.

Ring,

I'm simply saying Mike Reiss said the team told him it was bone on bone. This was said during a episode of NFL on ESPN I'm not here trying to make up anything. I can't find a clip on it it was ESPN live broadcast during the playoffs. I can't find anything else it as far as reporting maybe the team doesn't want that out there?

Dude

I don’t think you are trying to make things up per se, I think your idea of what is fact is what you think you remember hearing and your memory stinks.
Now you add a conspiracy theory that the team made ESPN sensor the comments that only you heard because they don’t “want it out there”?

I would like to see you have a higher standard of what you purvey as fact that “I think I heard it, everywhere I look says it never happened, so maybe big brother is hiding the truth, so I’ll just state it as fact”
What I posted is what Reiss reported during the playoffs. Landry told him he needs surgery and is going to get the knee surgery.

Now you have changed it to “the team told him” which first is illegal, but then after doing it they decided they didn’t want information they gave a reporter to be “out there” so they sued ESPN to delete any video of it and ESPN happily complied.

All of this to just get past saying you thought you heard something but obviously you are wrong. Do better.

Ok...Reiss quoted Landry as saying, "I'm going to get my knee right, and we're going to get right back to it"

If Landry's knee injury is "bone-on-bone", I don't know of a surgery that can fix that short of a knee replacement. There are non-surgical options, but those seem to be hit or miss as to their effectiveness.
