Do you think we’re done in FA?

Potential AJ Brown move aside, curious if we’re done dipping into the FA pool. We’ve been a little quiet the last couple days.

Not a ton left on the market, but still some potential vets at every level on defense still available. We could still use more depth on the DL, LB and CB. I wouldn’t hate bringing in a Daquan Jones as a potential 1 year rental for the DT depth.

Offensively could still use OT and RB depth as well.

Wondering if Wolf/Vrabel want to largely fill that out via draft from here, though. Have 11 picks as it stands. I could understand that approach when you have a couple major extensions coming.

Pre and post draft cuts, cap casualties. post June 1st refugees and a certain % of camp cuts will all be free agents so yeah... no, no the Pats are not 'done'

Obviously yeah, we’ll do more come post draft, especially July. More referring to this cycle up until the draft.

Even going with just pre-draft FA we're a month and a half out from the draft, have to feel the Pats aren't done. That doesn't mean I'm expecting anything Earth shattering (although never say never) but this team needs ditch diggers too

It's a simple numbers game. Currently the Pats have just 64 players under contract add 10 or so draft picks and that makes us need to sign around 16 more free agents to get to 90. Now most of those will be camp bodies and depth, but in the past, we've signed significant contributors as late as June.

So no, we haven't done with FA. Not by a long shot

They could sign a couple of inexpensive depth pieces like 3rd RB to replace Gibson, another OL (swing tackle or guard), veteran corner etc, but nothing big.

There's not much big left.

Not even close to done. We have 63 players under contract. We will go to 90. We have 11 draft picks, some will be traded and we will sign undrafted players. The new league just started in Wednesday. We are not even close to knowing who this team consists of.

“Done” is a stroooooong word but probably unlikely for anything that moves the needle a lot. I’d say a rotational DE, a swing OT, a reserve LB and a depth CB are all probably coming at some point.

Of course we aren’t done. There is still a lot of depth to add.

I think they were asking more about FAs of note. Guys who will see significant snaps. To that answer I would say.... probably not. Though they may wait till after the draft. And maybe after June. For not until either one of those 2 things happen i wouldn't expect anything.

While people always say BPA... usually there isn't much difference and you are picking people within the same tier. In that case do you want to pick the one who will see time for you or not?

1) Last year, we signed Bradbury, Gibbens and RFA-tendered Elliss about a week into the contract year. I would expect to see similar action before the draft this year, perhaps exactly parallelling with an OL and a couple of defensive front seven players.

2) Of course, there is action during the 2 weeks surrounding the draft, including UDFA's.

3) We also sign free agents all the way up to the "final" cut day and the couple of weeks thereafter. For example, last year we signed Durden, Gregory, DiVito, Woods, and Munford.

I don't know, Bob. I think there will be a couple of guys we sign after the draft that will end up being contributors during the season. This goes back a while, but off the top of my head, guys like Mark Anderson and Rob Ninkovitch were late pick ups who became key contributors. I was at the practice after Ninko signed as a potential long snapper. I have a clear memory of watching him come over from working with the ST's guys, and kind of wander over to where the LB's were working and started to do some drills. We all know how that all turned out. He never DID ever do a long snap for us. So was that a bad signing? '

Aside from trading for Crosby or signing Tyreek Hill, Brandon Aiyuk, or another reclamation project…I think we are done.

Just gonna have to draft OL and edge rusher…..

By done, you mean done signing $13M+ AAV players?

As far as starters i feel like we are. Hard to find any lb or edge out there which are the biggest needs. Unless we swing a trade itll probably be depth signings from here and id think edge/lb are the draft priorities

It always bothered me that Ninkovich was often referred to by Many here on Patsfans as Stinkovich.
Always saw him as a solid player.

Yep we're done.
Put a towel on the 2026 season's head, it's over.

I'm sure they are keeping an eye on things, but the range of worthwhile players in free agency is always less than our hopes might suggest. Ours is still a pretty hollow roster, though, and I would not be surprised if they snatch a couple for solidly serviceable guys either for backup or for their potential going forward. Nothing big, though. As for A J Brown, hopefully they are responsible enough in their stewardship of our resources to resist that mistake.
