Player Signing Romeo Doubs Signs

Isn't he being brought in to do what Diggs did but for 10 million less?

He needs to be better than Diggs

But Boutte and Doubs aren't the exact same player being asked to do the exact same thing. It isn't like we can't get them both on the field at the same time.

If we're talking about redundancy, we should have given a big contract extension to Edleman when Welker left instead of signing Danny Amendola, they were such similar players. But I fail to see how losing Welker, giving that money to Edleman and NOT having Amendola would have made us a better team going forward.

We get it. You're totally fine with Boutte and Doubs giving you the same production next season that they both produced last season.

Yes, I understand the thinking.
He was projected to be a number 1 here.
My main point all along has been Doubs is a #2 and is being paid like it.
I posted guys that are in his price, contract wise earlier in this thread.
Kupp; Juedy; Meyers, Wan’dale, Saheed.
I wouldn’t want any of those guys over Doubs.
His contract is the going rate for what he is.
The folks that are saying we paid #1 money for a number 3 WR are very, very ill-informed.
I agree. I don't know a lot about Wan'dale, but I want Doubs over Kupp (too old), Jeudy (too inconsistent), Meyers (too slow), and Shaheed (too limited route tree).

Shaheed honestly would have been perfect here. Deep threat with a guy who can throw a great deep ball. Seattle wasn’t going to lose him though

Him and KW are very similar size/speed wise.
I believe our staff thinks highly of KW and are banking on his development.

ultimately I think it has nothing to do about the money, Doubs encapsulates the concern that we could enter next year with an offense that isn’t really better than last year.

There is still time, i completely get it but baring a trade or being able for once to draft a good receiver that possibility is not negligible.

I did not watch the all 22 of the SB, I don’t have access.
I heard that WRs were open, true or not can’t say.
Our Oline was really the limiting factor on our playoff run.
The AVT signing secured one spot, and obviously the hopes are Wilson is better at his natural position, and Will can improve and be fully healthy with AVT beside him.
Don’t get me wrong, I would like to add a true #1, and believe we will be adding at least 1 more WR in FA/draft.
Now maybe we don’t end up with an alpha #1, but i don’t think that would keep us from deep playoff aspirations. Better line play and a seam stretching athletic TE would go a long way too.
We ended up a decent running team by years end, but our short yardage rushing was terrible, and our overall run game was pretty bad for the first half of the season.

Hope you are correct, because the young man is sooooo fast

Ok, I don't really understand what you're wanting at this point so let's do this: offseason reset. The legal tampering period hasn't started and Diggs is still on the roster. What is your plan for the WRs?

Is AJ Brown still a deep threat or has he lost that top level speed?
Yes he is! Very much so.. hurts has regressed and Sirriani can't commit to a OC..
Sorry if someone already made this point, I fell behind reading the thread.

Doubs signing, even if you still want Brown, is a great signing. Takes away a ton of leverage Philly had in negotiating a price for Brown.

I’ve been very happy with our signings in what has otherwise been a nutty market
Same here. We sre making sensible signings and using the cap wisely.. there is still moves to be made.. but hard for me as a fan to argue.. we have the most important Elements a team needs to compete. Coaching and QB..

Really thought someone like Chaisson was get a nice deal in FA he signed for 1 year at 12 mill with Washington.

Turns out he's betting on himself to have another nice season...

Love the Doubs pick up.. physical, sure handed, aggressive, goes over the middle great catch radius.. imagine if K. Williams makes that year 2 jump.. now we have some serious play making abilities.

Same here DD.. from the sound of it Vrabel's banking on Kyle Williams having a significant impact this upcoming season!

To be clear. You thought they cuff Diggs just to sign a guy who you think is the same production wise but saved about 10 million against the cap?

Are you Robert Kraft?

I thought personally they cut diggs because diggs at 28 mil vs Brown at 30 was the obvious way forward.

Which I still think is happening.

his hat/cap reminds me of the mushrooms in super mario bros

Yes, the team has decided that they prefer Doubs over the next 2-3 years to Diggs.

Of course, potential legal issues may be part of their decision-making.

As we all knew only reason he's not longer here is the refusal to renegotiate his deal.
Seriously it is a lot of energy to burn with the way he led the WR room and team with his speeches and sideline energy. I think a lot of players are on the program and fall off around the same time of year.
Good points. Saw yesterday from Nick Cattles that there was some frustrations mounting last season especially in the post season when he wasn't getting the ball.. maybe Josh and the coaching staff saw that as well. Nevertheless going with Doubs was a great move.

Some posters here would be pissed if a prime Jerry Rice walked through the door as our new free agent WR…
I can defintely see the complaints about the 4.71 40 time!

So what is your problem with Doubs then?
