Do you really think knowing a guy had surgery eliminates the need to check out his health? It makes it MORE important.BAL knew that Crosby had surgery 2 months ago. This is BS and reflects on BAL and future dealings with BAL.
NO ONE knows whether Crosby will start on PUP or when he will be productive. We took this kind of risk when we signed DIggs. Most of us were amazed that he was as strong as fast.
His agent issued a statement yesterday.
They aren’t paying anyone $16M per year to just do what Jennings was limited to do.The more I think about it: was Jones brought in more to replace Anfernee Jennings role? Rather than Chaisson’s?
OR they found out that day that they could get Hendrickson without losing their draft picks and pulled this MRI charade to get out of the Crosby dealHadn't seen that last night when I posted my statement.
Doesn't really address if the Ravens found something ELSE. Which they could have. Also, as I mentioned, it could be a differing of opinions between the Ravens Orthopedist and the Player's Surgeon. Even if that surgeon is considered one of the premier surgeons. We'll never actually know.
The Ravens traded a 5th for Jones last season so he is somewhat known. Jones had 7 sacks last year, Chaisson had 7.5 sacks, and sets the edge better than Chaisson. So Jones replaces Chaisson.Nobody seems to know anything about this guy.

We need to replace Tonga and another EDGE would be great. Caleb Banks might fall due to his broken foot, and Mesidor might be available.
Better. So which part of "Younger, faster, cheaper" does this ****ing mediocre ****ing stiff fulfill...?
Daquan Jones could be a nice 1 year rental for Tonga’s role. The Ravens traded a 5th for Jones last season so he is somewhat known. Jones had 7 sacks last year, Chaisson had 7.5 sacks, and sets the edge better than Chaisson. So Jones replaces Chaisson.

There's a half dozen guys to fill that role on the vet minimum out there.Daquan Jones could be a nice 1 year rental for Tonga’s role.
Everywhere I go to look up any analysis on him, they just point to "he had 7 sacks last season" or "he can rush inside", but nothing whether he's a good run defender or more disciplined Edge player which was Chaisson was not. I'd be praying the QB not take off after Chaisson would leave a gaping hole on his side of the field. The Ravens traded a 5th for Jones last season so he is somewhat known. Dre'Mont Jones is more of a power guy off the EDGE. Like Keion White, but with a lot more moves. Maybe Jacas in the draft is a comp? Vrabel does not seem to like the "all pass rush and no run defense" guys (Chaisson) OR the "no pass rush and all run defense guys" (Jennings). Vrable is looking for a balance, Richard Seymour-lite if you will. I think Jacas is the Jones equivalent in the 2026 draft.Everywhere I go to look up any analysis on him, they just point to "he had 7 sacks last season" or "he can rush inside", but nothing whether he's a good run defender or more disciplined Edge player which was Chaisson was not. You make very good points about them possibly finding more after digging into it. I was on the Baltimore got cold feet and backed out. You have brought up a very interesting alternative. These are completely different situations.
Diggs had a complete ACL replacement. Crosby had a torn meniscus that needed more than a basic trim. Completely different scenarios.
The ACL is a 12-18month return to full health timeline. The Meniscus is a 3-4 month return to full health timeline.
Doing some research, this is what I found:
Crosby had surgery on his left knee in 2023.
The left knee gave Crosby issues all during the 2023 and 2024 seasons.
Crosby had surgery on his left ankle during the 2024 season after suffering a high-ankle sprain.
Crosby tore the meniscus in his left knee during the 2025 season and that is what he had surgery on in January 2026.
(Note, the following is MY SPECULATION)
With the number of injuries and surgeries on Crosby's left leg, it would be completely negligent of DeCosta to NOT have the Ravens Team Doctor and Team Orthopedist give Crosby an exam including an MRI. I think it's very plausible that they found something that could be chronic or degenerative. Or possibly something even worse. With Crosby clearly wanting off the Raiders, you'd think that he'd be out and contradicting any potential hint that he won't be ready for the start of the season. Yet there has been nothing from him or his agent. The silence is somewhat damning.
Respectfully, almost every team in the league would get younger, faster, better and cheaper if they could. So, all of that was an illusion. It is rare that you can you all of them- because better players in free agency typically are wanted by more than one team and thus get more expensive. You can tweak the first year of the cap hit to make a big contract small in year 1- but for the most part- you pay for good players and you speculate on players who are not yet but might become goodSo which part of "Younger, faster, cheaper" does this ****ing mediocre ****ing stiff fulfill...?
Yeah but they aren't NT's...they don't have the mass. I believe Farmer (or Taylor) and the Patriots would benefit greatly if he followed the same diet regime that our RG Mike Onwenu follows. Vrabel's eyes would light up the second Farmer walks through the training camp doors on day 1. Farmer could have a productive 10 year career ahead of him.The Pats have Farmer, Durden, and Taylor to replace Tonga. I'd argue that Williams return did more to help against the run than having Tonga on the field. I don't think we'll see a DT signed. Maybe one late in the draft unless someone unexpected falls to them..
Vrabel's Defense isn't predicated on having a NT. As I pointed out, the Run defense got more of an result from Williams than it did Tonga.Yeah but they aren't NT's...they don't have the mass. Some guys don't have that mass coming into the NFL but later on they do and suddenly they are valuable and productive NT's in the NFL.
