It's like the naysayers haven't been following the Pats at all the last 25 years. This team has won 6 Superbowls WITHOUT having a #1 WR. In fact, one of the major tenets of the offense over those years was NOT to have a #1 WR. The philosophy was to spread the ball around to all the available receivers, so the defense can't focus one or two targets and take them out of the game like Bill used to do so often to great effect.
If 25 years is too long a time for you to remember, how about we go back one year. You know the season we surprised the entire league by going to the ****ing Superbowl. The year we had a top 3 passing offense and no clear #1. This is what is going to happen as long as Josh is running the offense.
We should be rejoicing at getting a 6'2 WR who is known for having great hands and the knack of creating space at the point of attack. Steve Smith's analysis SHOULD be eye opening for the doubters. Unfortunately, the "cult" is so locked into their own little world that no one other than Randy Moss level WR will ever satisfy their obsessive need to find that #1 WR, whether we need him or not.
Now we still need to add a LB, TE and Edge to the mix before the draft, so the draft can be all about the quality of player rather than an immediate need. So resign Chassion, add Chenal and Njoku and pat yourself on a solid FA period
