Patriots Rumor A.J. Brown trade rumors heat up - Should Patriots get him?

A report indicating the Patriots are potentially in the market for this player, or have expressed or plant to express interest.
After 2012, these players were drafted who were significant contributors to our SB runs -

2013 -
Jamie Collins, Logan Ryan, Duron Harmon

2014 -
Jimmy Garoppolo, Bryan Stork (he started 13 games including the SB as a rookie), James White

2015 -
Trey Flowers, Shaq Mason, Joe Cardona

2016 -
Joe Thuney, Jacoby Brissett, Malcolm Mitchell (he was big for us in the second half against the Falcons)

2017 -
Deatrich Wise Jr.

2018 -
Sony Michel

We can't draft All Pros with every pick. The bolded is the reason why your perspective is skewed.
I agree but if you look at it, It was few hits here and there and most are middling players for the expenses draft capital.

Real hits have been joe thuney , mason, white and possibly 2013 class of which thuney is elite . And if you look at it from 2014 to 2023 , it's just been below average . And we let thuney walk too.

And in your list see the gap from 2019-23 5 years of misses and gonzo would have also been gone if not for ron rivera stupidity.

Bill is gone for over 2 years , so no point berating him . But the 2019-2024 drafts did nuke pats big time ( maye, gonzo exceptions ) and hopefully luck starts to smile on us from 2025.

I still don't understand how PHI gets under the cap with a trade before June 1.

They do have some restructures available to them - although restructuring Barkley can be dangerous given his injury history. And Hurts is eligible I think as well, but again, you're committing to him long-term.

I didn't include 2019-2023 because I was referring to teams winning SBs and the drafted players who contributed to those teams.

Again, you don't need to be All Pros to be considered a good draft pick. The guys I listed all played significant parts for those SB winning teams.

I also didn't list undrafted free agents that were major contributors like Jon Jones, Malcolm Butler, Ryan Allen, David Andrews, JC Jackson, Brandon Bolden.

I'm not going to defend what Belichick did from 2019-23. Obviously he lost his fastball and didn't replace key personnel that helped him in the FO. Losing Casserio was huge. He's gone on to help build that Texans team.

The early release of Diggs and some other cap space being cleared….are we not sure that there might already be some sort of deal already made? None of can be sure…I get that, but that’s what it feels like to me.

If the Bills had any money at all they would have done it.
Ya.. I was thinking about them possibly being a player in this as well.. I got a sigh of relief when the traded for DJ Moore.

Romeo Doubs or Jauan Jennings strikes me as more cost effective investment than the coming cap hit and draft picks needed for Brown

Maye and McDaniels like to spread the ball which makes spending $30 million a year (and a draft pick) a lot to give a guy who may have as many targets as Diggs

We don’t know the details of the Jordan Davis extension, but that will save them a few million on the 2026 cap. Then they just have to cut Michael Carter to have enough cap room to trade Brown, sign their draft picks, and basically nothing else significant.

Wouldn’t, AJ be able to quick renegotiate his contract to stop the cap hit then sign a new deal with the Patriots?
Yes, but that would reduce his leverage in dictating where he wants to go vs where the team wants to ship him to.
