Player Signing Romeo Doubs Signs

Douglas has a level of explosiveness that many of our WRs do not have.

Not Hollins, not Boutte, not Doubs.

He's much quicker than the rest of our WRs.

I know WIlliams is faster but I haven't really seem him exhibit any quickness yet.
In any case, there is no reason to cut him. he is our #5 WR and can fill in with more reps if there is an injury.

At very least, we should wait to cut him until he is beaten out for his job by Chism or a draftee.

I'm fine kicking Douglas to the curb, to be honest. When an actual pro-level team was around him this year, he was pretty useless, save for one catch in the playoffs.
I’m there too. Boutte is the better player of the two. Maybe we hold onto him for now and cut ties with Douglas now

PF Board: Please sign a WR, Please sign a WR, Please sign a WR, Please sign a WR...please please please. Pretty please.

Patriots: Signed a WR.

PF Board: NO NOT THIS FEKKIN' GUY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And without having the best TE ever it really would have been a major problem.

Even still It reared its ugly head more often than not.
We still didnt have a #1 grade A receiver though.

I think you get the TE high up in the draft.

It's much easier to find one at the end of the first round vs WR.
If those were the only two needs and we didn't take the BPA, that MIGHT make sense.

I seem to remember the Patriots saying (reportedly) that they could fit both Diggs and Brown onto the team if Diggs would renegotiate.

Is this the type of deal, with less years, they meant? Certainly they didn't expect to get Diggs for less than 18-20 a year.

So perhaps that's the thing here - this is what they could pay to also get Brown.

When you say quick, are you referring to agility such as cutting? Douglas ran a 4.38 - 40, a 4.29 3-cone and a 7.05 shuttle. We don't have a comparison for Doubs because he was injured for the combine and his Pro-Day. Boutte ran a 4.5 40, a 4.25 3-cone and a 7.14 shuttle. When I hear "quick" I think of a guy like Edelman who ran a 6.68 shuttle and 3.92 3-cone.

I see many of the GDT denizens are here making their customary (cough) contributions. Congrats on staying in shape kids! You boys are in mid season form

This guy isn't a #1 WR. If the front office thinks he is, they will be severely dissapointed.

They still need a legit #1 WR. Receivers were not getting open once the competition got rougher in the postseason.

By this logic you actually think Boutte is a legitimate number 2 lol.

No. Not good enough.
But what logic?
Doubs had 55 catches and 724 yards
Boutte has 33 catches and 550 yards.
How are these the same, they are not!

I fekkin' told you MONTHS ago this was the guy. MONTHS. He's a money ball ball type signing. He's going to get you 1000 yards at $10m per year less money than Alec Pierce. Maybe half the $$.

I told you this was the way.

Boutte was concussed after that Great start... He was on the verge to Breakout!!

This team hasn't had a #1 since Moss, and that was 20 years and 3 super bowls ago.
You can't really mean that we have won SB's without a #1 WR.
================
Of course, the meaning of "#1 WR" is very different folks.

I suspect if had a thread where we listed the #1 WR's in the NFL, the list would be about 15.
